Dual-Wield or 2-Handed Sword?
#23809 - 06/08/07 04:32 PM |
As title implies, I am a level 13 fighter and am wondering if the best way to go is dual-wield axe/other weapon or a 2-handed sword/other weapon? The dual-wield is faster attack, but the 2-handed is more dmg. Which is best? All opinons are appreciated. |

That really depends alot on your style. I alternate back and forth. Using dual ludicrous speed 1-h and various 2-h weapons. It depends on the dungeon and my mood. Both will kill effectively just in different manners. You will get alot of opinions that 2H are superior, but I still enjoy running with dual weapons at times. -------------------- JoeB - Level 100 - Back to a Fighter where he belongs SirOldBottom - Level 42 - Shadow Merc Mearlin - Level 29 - Mage Dungeon Runners Map Build 0.95 |

I alternate back and forth. I try to use 1h while running.. and a 2h when beating up on bosses. I enjoy the speed of the 1h's, but also like the dmg for the 2h. All depends on your style and what you like to do.. and definately what goes best with your build! -------------------- In-Game ----------- SKLNDR - LvL 50-something Fighter Niklaus-Deleted |

Like stated, 1h for running, 2h for boss fight/hdol. -------------------- Jinxed - Lvl 100 -------------------- |

N00b q: Won't you have to click more to kill with ludicrous speed weapons? (killing more mouse's than mobs )Aside note: I wonder weather anyone has ever got RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) from hack'n'slash games? Hmmm... sd9 |

No need for repeat clicking. Simply hold down the left mouse button and you will continue to attack, 1h or 2h doesn't matter. And when you want to switch targets after current target has died, just hover the cursor over the next mob, you'll start attacking right away, no need to let up on the left mouse button. Only time I re-click while fighting is if for some reason I need to switch targets before my current target has died, or I need to let up to use a skill or quaff a potion. |

I like speed, so i go dual wield. If you use a 2h id suggest a claymore, fast speed and great dmg, it dishes out plenty. When fighting mobs that walk away from you when you get close, id suggest a 2h, because your character running up, taking a swing, running up, taking a swing... it just doesnt do the dmg that you need... so if you intend to fight a lot of that type, go with 2h... But otherwise they are pretty much the same dmg wise... go with your preference |

Was just posting in another thread about this. At level 10 I picked up a nice 1H and a good shield, decent attack speed and was rarely getting hit because of the shield. By level 16 I had found a 1H that had better attribute boosts than the shield and it was kinda like being a weedeater. I have a high agility build so I didn't really miss. Then it happened...while farming Sissirat and downing 4-8 pots a trip he dropped a Purple +13 AGI/END/INT 2H Hammer with some really high damage output, even though it was a bit slower. I went in the next trip and used 1 potion and the Venomspitters and Rattle Toe dead and Sissirat to 1/2 before my Poison Resistance had worn off. I think the key to using a 2H efficiently (granted I'm only level 20) is making sure those strike hit by having a high agility. Even with a speed of grandma I'm taking mobs down faster than when I was dual wielding. The fodder goes down in a Gaseous Blast and a Cleave. Now that's not to say my tastes won't change as I get to a higher level but for now I'm liking the high hit percentage and high damage output of a 2H with high agility. -------------------- Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. |

I am only lvl 16 but I usually just use the best weapons I have available. Currently using a lvl 14 2hd purple pizza cutter and I have no problems killing anything. I have not put one point into Agil either. Only STR and STAM. I rarely have any problems hitting stuff. I usually run around and pick up 3-4 groups at a time and just take them out in one spot. |
