Hi all, trying out a new(?) build here. After playing a standard fighter (str/agi/end 2:2:1 something) I wanted to try something new. I noticed my nice damage with soul rend when I played my mage. Ofcourse, my mages soul rend can't connect. So here's my idea:

At level up, max int/agi. For equipment, high def warrior gear with as much +end you can get. Second stat should be +agi or int on it. Str would only be a bonus. 1-h sword + shield would work nice. A 'Fast' weapon would be perfect.

Skills:
Passive skills: The fighter HP skill. REMOVE Way of the Roo, it lowers your magic damage and you dont need melee speed on this build. Add mage +20% magic damage skill. If you find yourself low on either hp or mana, balance this with BMI or couch potato skill and switch as time goes.

Active skills:
SOUL REND!!! This will be your main attack skill. With the above setup, you'll do gigantic damage with this setup.
Holy Roller. Well, rangers need to be shut down.
Gas/Fire ring: For the fodder
Acidic blas/Unearing shout/Ice bolt: To curse your targe, they all help.
Resistance: Put up the one you currently need.
Spirit of the Hare: You know why...

Conclusion:
This build will be slow at early levels (re-spec to this later on?) and won't be that great for normal swarms of mobs. Against bosses it will *slaughter* though. But then again, these are all just estimations, I havent tried out this build yet. That's why I made this post. I want Your saying on this. Please rant away.

Interesting build, You may want to add the buff for divine damage this should increase your damage. The only problem I can foresee is you will be doing very little melee damage. I would have to see how much damage soul rend receives from the high INT. Not sure if this balances out with this skill. Would be interested to see how this turns out.

I use soul rend as a White Wizard on my RMB. level 35, every point put into INT....with eq I have around 300 int. My soul rend does around 3200...so regardless of my low melee damage it helps tons on bosses.

I tried this out (albeit with str gear), and the 400-500 dps I got with Soul Rend just didn't compare to the 1200+ dps I was getting with my melee setup. Alternating between melee and fireball's a bit tedious, too, imo. It's hard to get Soul Rend to stick, and then why not just use all-out Fireball? I also lost a significant amount of defense. I still think Battlemage is the way to go for soloing, and pure warrior for groups.

Well, I wrote the above when I was around level 20 and didnt know much about this game ^.^

The build is fun, but if you want hardcore bosslayer, go a pure agi ranger.
