R L buttons
#23274 - 06/05/07 12:14 AM

what do you guys have on your L and R buttons?

I usually have holy roller on the R to catch up to those runners, and either cleave or rend depending if there is a lot of fodder around. AoE's and buffs on the bar.

im a bit strange, every single attack on my character is an AE

Shadow Lightning(mage skill) on the L and Gaseous Cloud(ranger skill) on the R
course, i had to have fun with the stats and passives, but for multiple mob engagements(and how many single mob engagements are there?) the mobs die in droves

I have 1H or 2H on L) and Acidic Blight on R) . I always seem to forget the 1H/2H so its easier for me to put it there, so when I click on a monster, it auto activates it. And I use Acidic Blight a lot, so thats why its on R). Once I get an actual gamer mouse, no telling what button will have what on it lol

No I do have mana steal. I put the attack speed buff on left so I don't forget it. Have a tendency to forget when it is in the numbers. This way it is always active. Then use right mouse on anything champion or above.

hey guys, is the cool down time for the 1h/2h/res buffs less as the ranks go up? mine are like rank 1 or 2 but they have a long cool down. I generally use the hotkeys for the buffs because I can 'set it and forget it' and the other ones i'm using all the time.

From the few skills I have leveled several times, the cooldowns are the same. But as the spell gets higher, the duration lasts longer so theres not as long of a wait between casting.

Sounds silly but currently:

L - Shadow Lightning
R - Improved Shadow Lightning

Its about the only way I can still have skillbar slots for buffs since the Passives are now anything BUT Passive.

Not much past level 15 though...

But on your left click button? You wouldnt be able to attack with your main weapon. My mage will get 1 swing in between shadow lightening but I cant see this being affective for a warrior.

See thats the funny part. I'm somewhat a mage but also very much a fighter because of the classless system lol. I melee combat constantly and just use mage attack in the huge hordes so my bar changes alot.

Just wondering. Many ways to set up character, but IMO would think that would spread your damage alot. If you cant concentrate in one stat spread across all 4, which would think you would need to in order to have the mana and spell damage. This lowers your damage from melee weapon. But whatever works for your character and playing style is always good.

My fighter uses Soul Rend on the left button and Holy Roller on the right. I have just enough mana to use Soul Rend as my main attack and with this setup, I can tackle enemies that either run away, or tackle me if I don't tackle them first.

Using my attack on the left, Holy roller on the right.

As for the cool down, I haven't noticed a real difference, but I dont pay much attention XD

Only 18 atm, but I'm using Butcher on L and Soul Rend on R. Giving serious consideration to swapping those.

Hey, arent you the weirdo using 1h/2h speed buf on left mouse button? (I hope you can read the invisible sarcasm in this and my previous post ^.^)

So, we agreed then? 2 no, and rest of comunity (silence = yes) yes. Soul rend on left, roller on right (with mana stealing equip). Goodie, me da winner! What's my prize? Cause this was a contest, wasnt't it? Eh? Anyone? What? You call me what? Not mentally stable? wha?!! explain thyself!

Not sure what to think of your post except to mostly ignore it and tell you that I am far from the only fighter that uses the speed buff as my left/right click. I use soul rend on right instead of left and as I said rarely use holy roller, has worked for 70+ levels. I don't see the need to use soul rend on every hit when I kill most normal and fodder in 1 hit. I only use it on champions/heros. When I need to chase down ranged mobs I prefer to use Spirit of hair because I can keep up with any ranged mob, using holy roller is great for 1 but in HDoL when I have 10-30 ranged in the multiple group pulls holy roller is to slow for my liking. Oh and a weirdo ... definitely ... live with it

When I play Ulrich as a fighter, I use Soul Rend on the left and Cleave on the right. I, too, don't use Holy Roller. Instead I like to lead off a charge with Shadow Word Smackdown , because I can trigger it from a distance, the close the gap to melee.

I'm up to lvl 14 now and so far have been using Soul Rend on the left and Butcher on the right. Cleave at level 1 sucks dmg-wise for me, but I have been favoring 2handers more now. I'm not seeing the benefit of 1h/2h swing buff on the attack button though. I can watch my buff bar enough to see when the cooldown is done to know when i can use it again and I usually want it saved for a boss fight. I'm thinking cleave on the left and holy roller on the right may be a better setup for me with a 2hander, but the night is young.

actually I agree with JoeB on the speed buff on left click ...that way I don't forget to kick it off again when I get a recharge.
And I've actually switched back to butcher even... at least for me i get more knock-downs that way.

L - Butcher
R - Shadow Lightning.

1 - Holy Roller
2 - Acidic Blight
3 - Gaseous Blast
4 - Ring of Fire
5 - Cleave
6 - Righteous Stomp
7 thru 9 - Average BMI, Way of the Roo, Gym Freak

I have butcher on L because my dualies are awesome and ruin everything, so with the added bonus of knocking everything flat on its [censored], mobs die very fast. I tend to pull in a few groups at once then lead them until they all stack upon each other in on spot, hit them with 2 thru 6 in a bar of mana, pot a time or two depending on mob amount, and either rinse and repeat or shadow lightning the rest. Holy Roller is used to jump from ranged mob to ranged mob quick and stop them from bothering me.

For the past few levels, it's been working wonders against everything. Definitely fun.

Since I had a ton of skills I used I put a passive on my L slot so it would still be in use and I could still attack. I have Soul Rend on my R slot.

my char is normaly a mage, but i have a full set of agility/strengh armor/weps that i change to and become a fighter without redoing my stats, but it leaves me with about 2500 mana currently. I use shadow ligntning on the left and sould rend on the right.

2500 mana is enought to keep shadow lightning going while inbetween recharge.. hacking away at the bigger guys. along with the other buffs/debuffs/attacks i use: ring of fire, acidic blight, and the one that slows them down.

As a 54 fighter, I've found Soul Rend on the left and Butcher on the right to be my combination of choice.
