Thanks!!!
#22779 - 06/01/07 02:15 PM

First I want to say thanks for this game. So much better than I had expected, and I'm glad to try it out.

Second, I want to say THANKS for Not doing something that nearly every other game does to mages... there doesn't seem to be a lot of down time regathering mana.

Unless this changes as you continue to level up, I pretty much grind all through a dungeon and stop for various things, but never do I have to stop just to get my mana bar up just so I can go on fighting.

I can't say thank you enough

Pots and member pots fill mana by 40% and 50% so just use two and you're back to 100%. Because it's a percent, it will never change no matter what lvl.

No this does not change as you level higher. If anything your mana pool will increase a great deal. Remember that Intellect not only adds to your mana pool but is the primary way to increase your damage as well. You obviously need to do as much damage as possible so as an extra bonus you'll get a whole lot of mana to be used for inflicting that damage. Solo, You should rarely run low on mana. In a group you might need to drink a couple pots every so often. Health? Different story. Regen of hit points is where you are going to find yourself waiting. If you can move to the next group with less than 10 or 15 seconds of regen time then your are going to level quickly and efficiently.

As an extreme example: I tried to get the max Intellect I could with my current loot, without a respec, and with no thought to any other stat. I got...

10 STR - 0 AGI - 89 END - 1466 INT

Which gives 3155 HP and 55,308 MANA

(Yes, fifty five thousand!)

For reference Shadow Lightning (with the passive buff but not the spell buff) does 814 to 5696 damage.

Obviously I could go lower with a respec or with different gear. But 3155 HP isn't very playable at level 100 difficulty without some serious pot chugging. I do not play with my stats this way at all.

I've been liking this setup (For HDoL and Boss runs):

10 STR - 0 AGI - 530 END - 1015 INT

That gives: 12,179 HP and 39,002 MANA

Skills (max rank) Left to Right:
Ice Shards
Acidic Blight
Gaseous Blast
Ring Of Fire
Unnerving Shout
Thickheadedness (This switches to Improved Shadow Lightning when grouped.)
Couch Potato
Bookworm
Mental Prowess
Shadow Lightning
