It should eventually let you get past the test if you wait long enough. The next launcher patch will fix the hangup there. Can you get to http://launcher.patcher.ncsoft.com/NCLauncher/Main/Manifests/CurrentVersion.xml in your browser? That is the file that it is trying to download as a test. |

If you haven't restarted your computer in a while, make sure you do that... BITS may be an a bad state. Also one thing you could try is to actually unplug your internet connection and then try to run the launcher. It should come up with a dialog to "skip" the update step. Do that and then plug the internet back in and see where you can get from there. |

still having issues with this launcher? Been at this for a couple hours now trying to get it to go. Yay Testing Bits Service. Yes the link above works for me as test. Redownloaded the launcher via the ftp link i find in the support section. Tried completley reinstalling the client. Checked my framework. I think maybe your hampsters need a kick. So my post is an average of 10 days later and this is still an issue? I have restarted a billion times.. My internet connection is faster than you think. |

once again *testing BITS service* Can anyone PLEASE post a darn solution to this issue.. nothing in this thread works and I just blew another 2hrs tonight trying to get it to go. Every darn time im stuck testing the darn bits service ! I got passed it once only to have the updater window freeze up trying to patch DR.... It only took the bits service a full episode of NYPD Blue (an hour) to finally go only to freeze when I click update now instead of the silly trickle update. |

Have you posted a support ticket with NCSoft? Would be smart given you arent getting any help here ... and with these types of problems it is unlikely that we will be able to help you much. -------------------- JoeB - Level 100 - Confused about my professional orientation - FINALLY SirOldBottom - Level 36 - Shadow Merc Mearlin - Level 29 - Mage Dungeon Runners Map Build 0.95 |

afaik. BITS is 'Background Intelligent Transfer Service' if I'm not mistaken. It's a windows service. Start > Run > "services.msc" Locate "Background Intelligent Transfer Service' check if it is started, or whatever state it is in. If not, start it Its just a wild guess - Give it a try |

I changed my BITS service from AUTOMATIC to MANUAL in the admin control panel of an XP PRO installation. Fixed all my paused BITS issues instantly. Was happening on Halloween until I made that change. |
