Attention Experienced DR players!
#20395 - 05/03/07 01:11 PM

This is for those of you who have leveled beyond the 15 mark - you know who you are! I've been asking for a lot of new player feedback, but this thread here is ALL YOURS.

We want to hear what you have to say now that you have some DR experience under your belt. Many of you gave us your opinions when you were new (and that rocked) but now we want to see your opinions as they stand now. Tell us about your favorite DR encounter, how DR fits your lifestyle, how your opinion of the game has changed, etc. If you love blogs then this is the thread for you. We want to know a little bit about what makes you...you.

So get a typin and show us your perspective! Let that imagery flow.

Please note that this is NOT a thread for suggestions. Suggestions are wonderful, but this isn't the thread for them. Please post all suggestions under the Dungeon Runners Suggestions category. Remember, this thread here is to spotlight those who play DR.

Rotgut will always be my favorite encounter. There's just something about a Jabba The Hut clone with a minigun that is so cool...that and his belly push knockback attack.

DR fits my lifestyle nicely; it's something I can pick up and play for a few hours here and there, or for marathon sessions when I feel the urge. Other days I won't even login. But, it's nice to know I can get right back into it when I feel it coming.

I must admit, when I first started playing I didn't really enjoy the game too much. I just happened to try a little bit longer to see how things would play out and change, and to see if perhaps my opinion might change as well. For the better for the worse, I didn't know. But, I did know I wanted to keep playing until I had a good idea of how I stood with this game. Fortunately, after several more levels I started enjoying the game more and more. In the beginning the funny item names didn't sit too well with me, but I've since grown to like the humor. It's kind of a mini game for me to try to figure out the origins of some of these items. I bet most of you guys probably don't know what the mythic Dha'blu'tief means.

I like games that involve absolutely zero intellectual stimulation, I think hard enough at work. DR does this beautifully. Hack&Slash at its best. And it's funny too!

I also like games that don't require big time investments to achieve anything note worthy, games you can pick up and drop at any time with no penalty. Again DR does this beautifully. It does this most beautifully at the lower levels, and [long suggestion edited out]...

I have loved it from day 1... started out as a non-member... leveled up a ranger to 12 i think in 1 day.. then decided to member but start a fighter. It's been great.

I love the sounds... the psychos and their screeching wheels are the most awful yet fantastic sounds EVER!! They are so horrible that I always want to kill them first, even thought it isn't the best strategy. I love how the game requires little thought, but I also really enjoy using just a little bit of smarts to select my targets.

Biggest high... finding my first rainbow
Biggest low... realizing it was for a ranger!!!

Longo... I made it to 100!!! I am retired.

Its a pretty good game that sticks to basic content. DR will awlays have to be careful to make sure that they know what the goal of the game is. They can't please everyone.

So when people say they want a challenge make a super hardmode. But don't nerf all chars. Hack and stash revovles around you fealing powerful. Your not seeking blance. Look at diablo two. THat game is fun because you you press buttons thingks happen. YOu can summon armies to fight for you, storms. jump over enemys, attack super fast run super fast, teleport. summon walls of flames, make novas and exploisions around you. shoot tons of arrows at once. SImply turn on an arua and bring death to all around you. Thats why its fun. All the differant ways to kill.

like someone else said. What i liek the most about DR is the 0 intellectual stimulation. I don't have to think too hard. I jsut let reflexes and clicking muscle memeory take over and i watch stuff die. No need to add super thoughtfull content.

If you do you'll end up liek guild wars. Where PvM tries to be PvP.

I love the simple, brainless fun. The item names are meh, but I think that's just me. I make name generators for fun, so I figured out how the names worked within ten minutes of playing, and stopped even reading them beyond looking for the prefixes and suffixes that mean stats I like. Randomness is only funny if it still looks like randomness to you.

I love the trainers' dialogue, especially the ranger one. "I've got an eagle eye.. it's in this pocket." I've probably clicked on her far too many times just hoping to hear that one.

I'm playing as a non-member not just because I'm a broke college student, but because the game is actually more fun that way. I enjoy the challenge of trying to hold my own with blues and no bank.

My favourite 'encounter' would have to be running the old HDoL the first time with a friend of mine, not knowing how the game scaled, and unsure if a group of two would be enough. We didn't even make it past the first level, but we had a great time.

I'm getting a little frustrated with the DR lifestyle aspect. I've got finals and major projects right now, and I want to be able to get stuff done in 30 minute intervals. I'm running quests in Widower, and despite it being below my level, it takes far too long to get quests done simply because of the amount of running around necessary to turn them in. Unless I'm doing one of the repeatable quests clearing a sub-dungeon again and again, there's not much I can get done in half an hour.

I was a bit hesitant before I started to play this game. I have an extremely picky taste on what games I will blow my money on. But I figured I would give this a chance.

I became a member within 10 mins of playing, I just had a hunch that I would like the game, mostly b/c it was very basic, nothing too flashy, chat was good conversation and not all the WTS, LFG, and retarded spam that I had encountered in GW.

My attention has been set on this game. I am lvl 39... for now.. and I dont regret becoming a member. I have even started a non-member character just to see how far I can get without needing those member items. I can definately see the difference!

Good Job Team! I am excited for future updates!

I've played quite a few MMOs, starting with SWG back in the day, a stint in COH, a year of WOW, another stint in COH, the Matrix Online, and a bunch of free 'korean-style' MMOs that are ultimately forgettable.

What I like about this game is the simplicity of it. There is something very satisfying about a game that doesnt take itself seriously, and has an emphasis on fun gameplay over pretty graphics or complicated control systems etc.

(I should admit at this point that my 2nd favorite game at the moment is a flash Desktop Tower Defence game...)

Anyway, just wanted to say 'big up' to the devs/mods/players - I can only see it getting better as the player base increases!

Lets see. It fits my style and my husband's style because:

We don't have to put up with pkers.
We have private dungeons so we don't have to put up with ksers and loot stealers.
The majority of players are around my husband's and my age range (30's and 40's).
The DR staff actually DO come into the game and talk to us.
Our characters can go on either world instead of being restricted to one or the other.
We don't have town lagging out due to overcrowding of player's personal shops (thank god!).

I know we do need some improvements on a few issues but I can be patient because I play for questing fun, not to race to some end game idea. We kinda need some issues handled soon because of problems some players are trying to deal with. Such as some people are abusing the party invite function so we really do need an option to turn party invites on and off to stop them from continuing this. More than 5 pots stackable plus show the number in the quick view circles that show our pots icon. We could really use an auto-hotkey for taking screenshots that will save into our DR folder incase of someone's misbehavior. I think it may be helpful for a GM to be able to come into a game under a hidden character name so they can watch over a problem without being noticed incase a problem gets really bad.

I figured I send both some pros and cons for you guys. My husband and I do really enjoy the game and are planning to stick around instead of playing multiple games because finally this is the kind of game we've both been looking for!

I signed up for DR in December I think. I'd kinda forgot about it til I got my invite around the end of February. So I downloaded the client and started out a non-member.
Dew valley was fun, I tried several times to get some of the other newbies like me ot group to little avail:) So I plodded along on my own and finally finished Dew.
Then things got fun:)
I spent way to much time sloggin back and forth in Algeron makin sure I got every quest completed. Then Agroc's, Vem's, and my 1st Mythic from Algor:)
Somewhere in there I grabbed a CoH time card from work and haven't regretted it since:)
