Ranger Guide

Anyone have a good ranger guide? I hear a lot about nerfs, but there still lots of rangers out there. So i was wondering how the rangers really are

I would second this for a few guides or even tips on this post would be great.

Im decideing now if i should try to build a fast hitting range crit damge or if i should build a more tankish and use reflect melee damage mods as ive found a few nice weapons. But im only lvl 15 and so far im still chugging potions left and right compare to my warior i just deleted as i wanted to play ranger for reasons of not chasing down mobs.

I did the samething. Right now i am sort of regretting it. I am still chasing down mobs especiallly when it is against healers. Gotta kill those first, but very annoying when 20 orcs are in front of me (agrocks)

I have decided to play a free acct with a warrior, and decided a bit on later what i will keep.

So far my ideal stats as of right now to prevent massive chugging of pots is, 3 agi 2 edu till 15-20 then rotating. Odd levels 4 agi 1 end. Even levels 3 agi 1 end 1 int. Need the mana to keep up with all those spells.

So far it is working alright, but i havent stuck to my "int" part. hehe. Just been doing 4 agi 1 end and pumping massive mana pots cause i run out of mana after 2 spells. But yea it seems ranger guides are on the low side.

I got my crit build working ok

There is hope i found a crit bonus helm so gear can also have them mods but its the only one i seen so far besides a few bows with range crit bonus on them. I sure hope i can find more gear as even with over 100% chance now its about on average 5+ or every 8 hits i ring off a crit but my average damage white damage is approx 200 and my crits 500-1k

Level 18 now and nice to see them 1k crits i also use fear shot and not posion as poison might be better for grandma speed weapons but i stil need even faster weapon but its going well im happy with the build so far and i use noxious shot i will spam it 1-2 hits into crowd just to poison them up some. Most mobs die quickly now and i have outright 1 hit kill a few of them. I also have not turned around to refarm and get stronger before continuing my quests. So i havent rerun no dungions yet.

Save the king coins for the guys in the dungions they are expencive but offer purples. Not the guys in town but in the dungions there is special vendor offers that you can use the kings coin on.

As the first level 100, I think I have some insight. First...there is technically no fast hitting high damage crit set up..because the gear doesn't allow it. Items with crit cannot have the increased attack speed modifier, nor can increased attack speed items have crit modifiers. I find that stacking one modifier or the other works best. I have full ranger outfits for both...as well as their corresponding weapons. I have a ranger suit with crit and one with increased attack speed. I have weapons with the same stats. Leech works very nicely with the increased attack speed items too.

In my findings, the increased attack speed set up kills mobs faster than the crit set up. I tested this on the Queen of Shadows numerous times. For weapons, I had the same class weapon with the same stats...both maxed agility and either crit or speed. That brings me to my final point. I pumped agility exclusively. My gear is either "of the zippity newt" or "of the deadly newt" which gives agility and a small amount of health. The only item that gives me just HP is my armor (201 stamina).

Gratz on 100 and thanks for the post Tac.

The best i can tell why we drink alot of potions. Fighter get more defence on there gear. For obvious reasons it looks heavy and strong, so it got better defence but rangers look more nimble and should have good dexterity but got no dodge bonus. And thats what it boils down too, rangers not having any dodge as agility only grants to hit rate and damage but no dodge.

So i guess us rangers are cursed to drink alot, maybe we should get vendor discounts. :P

Btw - Its just speculation on my part. And to any new rangers dont get discourage. Its only a few extra pots to drink its not as bad as 5 heals per every fight as now that im mid 20's my damage is better and so are resists gear and you get the BBQ Turkey to distract the mobs with.

the DEF received from the strength investment is what gives "dodge". There is no damage reduction for DEF(common misconception)... its a hit/miss system. And Fighters have more HP in general so that is why they need fewer potions obviously, since a 50% potion can restore 6,000hp to a 12,000 hp fighter, on a 8,000hp ranger the 50% potion only will heal 4,000 hp.

I decided to go look at fighter forums and took this post.

Quote:

Then I think I'm END overloaded . I just hit lvl 22 with 6300+ hp's. But I do 500-1000+ damage with the hammer I'm using.

What lvl and hp are the rest of you?

Bogey

Useing Bogey as example but my ranger is lvl 24 higher level then his fighter and i have just over 3k health and less defence then his gear has and my weapon is slothful in speed he uses hammer so its also slow and i do 200-700 white damage and he reports doing 500-1k .

It seems there is ballance issues all over the place and maybe i wont play my ranger no more i will have to think about changing class now.

You probably hit a lot more than he does, though, since rangers have much higher agi. So there's a good chance you do far more damage than he does.

of course hes gonna have way more hp than you... fighters get 38hp for every point of endurance... thats double a ranger I think. And all of those stats are based on you gear. As a fighter I had 10,000hp from level 30 on... only cause i thaught HP was the most important thing... well it's not. my hp hasnt changed in about 30 levels... I focus completely on str/agil now.

Anyhow... dont delete the char... classless is coming soon enough.

I was just making another post and was going to say i was gonna del this guy and try a fighter into high lvls as i already talk myself into the ranger is gimp in almost every way even weapon selection is poor compared to how many diffrent weapons (art graphics) i find for fighter stuff and i cant amagine how bad mages are i almost never get any mage gear. lol

But thanks for reminding me about the classless i hate to redo all that grinding. Still its fun grinding so i would not mind so much im quit enjoying the game even if my ranger is gimp. hehe
