3 major things DR needs
#19629 - 04/11/07 08:12 PM |
Just posting the 3 key things that I feel DR needs to make it a really great game. I enjoy playing it but really hope they address some of these issues to add longevity to the game. 1. Class diversity: Both look and playstyle need something else. whether it be through the gear or skills or even looks, they need to mix things up a bit more. Everyone looks the same and it makes things dull in the long run. We all look like barbarians running around. Personally as a mage, I dont really want to look like a chiselled jaw, burly warrior. 2. Loot progression: Currently there are lvl 70's that are wearing gear that looks just like gear a lvl 10 has. I know they expanded models in the last patch but every type of model should not be available at every lvl. Give us something to distinguish really great high lvl rare gear from low lvl junk. Yes this game is loot based and I do want to run around town with some killer sword that has a unique look to it that some lvl 10 won't have. 3. The skill system needs to be reworked. Most of the skills are uninteresting and even as a mage I find myself only using 3-4 skills on a regular basis. I hate to bring up other games skill systems but the skill tree system works well across many games and even NC soft games like auto assault, and gives players something to work towards. It can really ad a depth mix to the classes and increase class diversity tenfold by making classes choose a path of specialization instead of letting everyone access the same pool of dull skills. |

1. Pirate outfits 2. A big screwdriver to go with the big wrench 3. Mounts, like pigs, llamas and Abrams main battle tank and pirate outfits. I think it is obvious why the game NEEDS these things, especially the pirate outfits. Yarrr. |

I think some way of getting the traits upgraded would be a good way to differentiate between the types. Like Way of the Roo, Trigger Happy, and Mental Prowess getting a 1% boost per level. Then you could replace Trigger Finger Frenzy with something like Flame Arrow. Then give all the resistance spells and weapon damage buffs to the mage type and allow him to cast them on other characters. |

1 & 3: The classless build and new skills are on the way. The devs have said that more character body types will come eventually, but it's not a priority. 2: I agree. It's a good change that the member gear now looks slightly different than the non-member gear, (I'm a freeloader, incidentally,) so I assume level differentiation is coming. -------------------- Swordgleam - Level 40-something Arcane Fighter Vanishing into the wilderness from May 25 to late August. |

I would suggest an aura around each player that does DOT dmg to any other player who is lower in lvl. The bigger the lvl difference, the greater the dmg. This aura would also extend to the chat interface so that anytime another player sent you a private msg, they would immediately take dmg as per the rules above. This aura could be turned on or off with the /busy command. |

So would the DOT be with 'time' as each character in the message? I feel like that encourages chatspeak. Or is it kind of like Soul Rend with the /tell, as opposed to the aura around the pukers with the DOT aura? -------------------- Swordgleam - Level 40-something Arcane Fighter Vanishing into the wilderness from May 25 to late August. |

The negative noobie feedback effect over chat would necessarily have to be instant dmg but could be varried, as you say, depending on the length of individual tells. However, the effect could be cumulative within a 24 hour time frame so that repeated /tells would do increasing amounts of dmg. In addition, I think this effect should also be applied to worldchat, the dmg would be averaged according to the lvl of each player currently on who does not have /worldchat ignore enabled. To be fair, the reverse should also be the case, if a higher lvl character deigns to /tell you, you would recieve an instant heal, and likewise you would heal all players lower in lvl than you when you used /worldchat. Sending a group invite to someone higher in lvl than you should result in an immediate trip to the graveyard with a 10 min death penalty enforced. |

I think it should be limited to five lvls on either side, to facilitate normal grouping. The healing /tells seem like they could be abused, so perhaps by a much smaller amount than the DOT would be? -------------------- Swordgleam - Level 40-something Arcane Fighter Vanishing into the wilderness from May 25 to late August. |
