Is it to easy to stay alive?
#19474 - 04/08/07 12:32 AM |
If you buy enough potions you can basically stay alive through any fight (more or less). Is this making the game too easy? I can't believe I'm saying this but if the ability to use potions changed (not sure how) just a bit, there would be more of an opportunity to use strategies during a fight. What do you think? |

As another relative noob to Dungeon Runners (Lindstodt finally reached 27 today after my patching fiasco), I feel a bit weird trashing you twice in one day Skeave, but is there strategy in this game? Sure, you have to make good use of skills in a lot of fights, but we don't have to consider any tactical maneuvers like flanking, etc. DR after level 20ish is just a game you can pick up, beat the crap out of something for half an hour, then walk away. |

After the last uproar when the devs made the game harder I doubt that there will ever be anything challenging in this game. |

Vegrim was able to hit me once to reduce my life total by about half. Thats in a single hit (it was probably one of his bolt volleys and me standing next to him allowed every bolt to hit me, but as a fighter being up in his face is the only option I have to fight him). This was with resists running and lots of additional resists on my gear. It was at this point that I noticed I have been lacking on the endurance stat, opting for gobs of strength and agility to just simply kill everything before they really even hurt me badly. So id have to say that had I opted for more endurance stats I could have survived the fight far easier than I had. My next few levels I plan to pump endurance and start looking for gear with a bit more endurance on it. In this case, potions didnt really help all that much. I had to drink them in threes for any hope to recover enough health before his next attack reduced my life total to dangerously low or zero. Even with the ability to chain guzzle potions I still died a few times before I took him down simply because I didnt hit the button fast enough. Its a slightly weak example for how potions cannot overcome absolutely everything, but its true. |

There were hardcore (only one life) players in Diablo who made it to max lvl. So you don't need a high risk of death to make a hack n slash fun. |

that's because they nerfed a little too far during release .49 for two classes while one was leaps and bounds better. Its resolved now more or less the only flaws I see with the current setup is pure breed builds don't work maybe in the future they'll fix the base hit points and mana points from leveling a bit more to better support the possibility of more unique builds or add in a buff skill to help do the trick. Something like 5% base attribute buff +5% buff to item attributes on a cool down timer. |

If you want to make it more challenging just reduce the amount of potions you can use during a fight. But keep the following in mind, as a fighter your HP will usually be sufficiently high enough to take a few hits and drink potions. As a caster it is not unusual to die from 2 hits from a boss, so the potions alone doesn't cut it. |
