waypoints?
#18913 - 03/31/07 02:18 PM

I was wondering if I'm missing waypoints, I have only been through the first 5 lvls of Algernon and haven't gotten any other waypoints. Was just wondering if there is one on every lvl or after every few lvls or what? Of corse there is the very real possibility that I'm just missing them... Do they look like the on in townston or do they look different? Thanks.

There's an obelisk at the start of each new dungeon. Algernon is 7 lvls, and then there's Sissirat's Lair. After that you get to Agrock's Gauntlet. Look around the entrance a bit, and there should be an obelisk nearby.

Waypoints are the scrolls you got in your inventory that you use to get back to town, and when you logout the waypoints disappear.

Obelisks are probably what you mean, and they are permanent. In Dew Valley which is the area where you begin is one obelisk, and in Townston is one, and then there is one in Agrock's Gauntlet 1. There is no obelisk in Algernon 1-7.

So apparently, which I think sucks, you can't go back to Algernon 7 after you have logged out. You either have to go through all of Algernon 1-7 again or join another player's group who is in Algernon 7.

Then ofcourse there are more obelisks the furter you go. Next one after Agrock's Gauntlet is in Vergrim's Vexation if I'm correct.

Anyway, I also thought this was very complicated at first. They should really simplify it.

you could go back to algernon lvl 7 after logged out, provided it was longer then 15 minutes and the lvl 7 portal is the last portal you went through.

Your very last waypoint/portal is always saved. It's just that after 15-20 minutes, the dungeon resets, so you'd have to clear the lvl again.

I have also found that your waypoint will stick to a dungeon door if you are close enough to it.

If, for example, you were to set your waypoint in front of Agrock's Field entrance then log out, next time you log in you will appear next to that entrance even though the rest of the dungeon has reset.

If you just drop a waypoint in a random area of the dungeon you will appear at the entrance to that level (door leading a level lower).

I wish they would save the lowest level of a specific dungeon instead of the last. I lost my Agrock's Gauntlet level 7 waypoint when I went back to level 2 to finish a quest. Or maybe only save waypoints. So you have to use a waypoint scroll in order to save a waypoint.

They must have changed this then. Last I played, I would start in town regardless of where I set my waypoint, or where I was when I logged out. Something new with the patch maybe?

When you log back in you will have a waypoint to the last door that you went through. So it is best to finish your session just after you have gone into the next dungeon, otherwise you will have to do the same dungeon again.

And note, it is the last door that you go through, not the one way telport devices that you find in the HDoL, which is a real bummer cause you have to do at least two dungeons to make any progress in it.
