Vendors with things worth buying?
#18034 - 03/23/07 04:04 PM

The vendors don't appear to have anything worth buying short of potions and scrolls.

I find myself forced to farm on a regular basis to upgrade my gear.

It would be nice if vendors carried less random items and more default items that were useful for each class at every 5 levels or so. Nothing amazing, just average lvl blues.

Something simple like,

Caster gear with int, spell dam and spell resist
Ranger gear with agi, ranged dam, ranged crit, movement
Fighter gear with str, end, melee dam, melee crit.

There's still plenty of drops for the more random items.

I agree. What's the point of an arms merchant if he just has pathetic gray stuff.

the vendors do have a tab specifically for blue items and one specifically for green. though there isn't much too choose from..from what i've noticed...there are thre vendors to cover 100 lvls so 33 lvls per vendor...alot of ground to cover with just one vendor and still have something for everyone.

But as a member....if we want our gear...we have to farm for it....well there are the new dungeon vendors and king coins are easier to get....even though i've yet to get a coin from a chest or see a vendor...but i haven't tried that hard either...soooo.... i'll have to get back on this <whistles>

With that in mind, couldn't the vendors just spawn items based on your character level every time you zone into town? I believe Diablo 2 did this.

Why not make vendors sell useful stuff instead? This way the gold would actually be worth somthing. I have yet to buy any weapon or armor from a vendor. Why not make this game better? Thinking new is good, isnt it?

Gold is worth something, those skills that you have to buy can get expensive :P. So far, I've only bought one magic item from the vendor, and it was when I hadn't upgraded for a while. Only cost me like 5000 out of 200k gold.

Just wanted to elaborate a bit.

The Token vendors who take King's Coins actually give out very good items for your level.

In that regard, as a member, I'd never buy anything from the normal vendors as they only have up to blue items, but the token vendors will always give your something yellow or better.

And with king's coins actually coming from chests in addition to quests this actually works out very well.

This doesn't address the issue for non-members who are stuck with the normal vendors, but it does solve my initial problem of being stuck with gear a few lvls too low.

I asked Stephen in-game about something for non-members to do with king's coins, and he said something would probably be coming eventually. Not totally on-topic, but just wanted to get the info out there.

Eventualy would mean that it is uncertain. Now add the expected 1 or 2 month delay to next update and you can easly see its just a big dream. But if your willing to gamble 2 months of subscription for this, then go ahead.
