Quote: Great! This is a step in the right direction for sure. Hopefully the player base could get more attention to their ideas/suggestions, so that from every patch in future it will be one step in the right direction. ((When I say "attention to their ideas/suggestions" doesnt mean they are the ultimate truth. But Devs should handle ideas/suggestions like they want to handle their customers)) Personaly I have taken a break from DR now. I might come back and look in some months, who knows. I just dont want to be a paying member, when I see how things turned out lately. i wish good luck ofcourse |

You know what, I wasn't here before the patch. I find the game just fine besides the fact that I do see major problems with the unbalance of chars, which also leads to a problem with some bosses. The problem is ... from what I can gather is that people before the patch were pretty much godly and leveling like there was no tomorrow. Now all the sudden since you can die and not level so fast..it's not as fun anymore. Maybe I would feel the same if I was here before the patch and was all powerful..and then my powers got stripped to ony half of what they use to be. I mean honestly from a persons perspective that wasn't here before the last patch that everyone is complaining about....the game is really good. Yes it still has some problems and things I think could change to make it better, but for the most part I give it a 2 thumbs up. I don't think this game is open to the public really is it? Obviously they are still workin on this game to make it better. I give them all the props for that, and I don't know about you folks...but I still find this game extremely fun..and i've been haveing a blast with it. Edited by Sinister (03/26/07 07:37 PM) |

Quote: You must not play a mage. Name any other game a pure mage character is required, yes required, to tank a mob while he fires spells at it in order to kill it. I mean, that's why we wear cloth amirite? From a mages perspective before the patch we were able to kill stuff at range before it mobbed us to death. Now we get the first mob to 50% maybe and are swarmed with 10 of his friends all beating on us before any of them are dead. As all the successful mages who have posted since the patch have stated, the best way a mage can solo now is to buff up their endurance and charge into a group of mobs and spam AOEs and potions. Not my idea of a mage. Maybe a battlemage type of toon, possibly. |

I actively play all three classes. I've played all three into at least the 30s at least 2 times, each. Rangers - The only character I'm not having fun with is my ranger. I took over a 70% hit in maximum damage output. In addition to weapon balancing, there appears to have been an agility nerf. I can still solo dungeons at my level(not bosses), but it truly isn't fun anymore. If I'm not helping lowbies or farming coins, then I'm geared out as a fighter. Fighter - In my opinion, fighters are fine after the patch. I did well in HDoL solo on my ranger geared out as a fighter. I even did fine against groups with multiple healers. YES - molasses is a pain, but I was able to get through it. I didn't really notice any problems with butcher, although cleave does sucketh much... Mages - In my opinion, mages are fine after the patch. I'm sorry that some of you can't kill all mobs from a mile away with little-to-no risk to yourselves (which, btw, is how 'unbalanced' is defined in gaming - all reward, no risk). At least you can still be mages, you just have to learn tactics other than 'shoot from as far away as possible'. Echolocation was doing great the other night kiting with a combination of Fear of Gosh and Shadow Lightning. Ibalaki--the highest level mage in the game AND the one who faces the most difficult encounters--seems to be doing fine. Stop being stuck in the rut of 'this is what a mage is supposed to be' and learn some new skills. Bosses - Some bosses are doable. At a low level, Sissirat and Agrock are more difficult, but still readily killable. Abaddon, on the other hand, is ridiculously difficult. So much so, that it's a waste of time to attempt him, in my opinion. Loot - Appears to be drop less, especially quality loot. Doesn't drop so much less that loot drops could be considered "bad", in my opinion. Content - Players over level 50 still don't have anything to do but grind out levels and farm. I was excited to hear about 53 new quests, but dismayed to find out they were all for lower levels still. I'm confident that more are coming, however, and recognize that the quests need to be generated in the order of the levels and dungeons. I'll try to be patient. Miscellaneous There were a lot of goodies in the patch:
Summary - All-in-all, I'm still having lot of fun playing this game. The only class I don't find fun to play, post-patch, is Ranger. Since my ranger is my highest level character, I wasn't having that much fun on him anyway, due to the lack of high-level content. The only encounters I don't find fun to play, post-patch, are certain bosses. Other than that, I'm still having a great time! |

Hey all- We are getting a build to QA today!!! Which means, if it all goes well and there aren't any deal breakers, it could be in your hands within the next 48 hours! We have been reading/listening to your, ahem, "comments." ![]() Here's what you can expect to see in this build in terms of gameplay: 1) 10% damage increase on all ranged weapons 2) All bosses in the main dungeon are no longer intended for groups - and should be killable by solo players within the appropriate level ranges. Obviously, this will probably take more time to get it truly "right" but this is the direction we are moving in from here on out. 3) Fire Bolt got a 10% damage boost. 4) Your Intellect spell damage bonus was also increased by 10% (this means more damage on all 'magic' spells across the board) 5) Ice Shards had it's mana cost and overall damage reduced by 30%. This one is way out of balance right now and needs to be reigned back in - I know this will probably not go over well with the folks that are using it currently. Just bear with me on this, it is a dominant strategy and really takes away the challenge of the -insert keyword here: GAME. ![]() 6) Monster stun resistance has been nerfed a bit - most obviously on some of the bosses, but across the board you will pretty much always have at least a 10% chance to stun a monster at your level. I am still playing around with some ideas on this one, so this probably won't be the last iteration in this dept. 7) Bug fixes to quests and Sam's Dungeon Wholesale are also included in this build. A little bit of new content as well! ALL Crystal Armor should look like crystal armor now! ![]() Check out the new tune in the Widow Maker's Lair! ![]() Performance/Crash issues: The lag issues should be fixed. We figured out the problem and code changes have been made to address this. The reasons for the server crashes have also been discovered and fixes have been put in place for these as well. OK, I hope this helps! -------------------- MarkT Lead Designer |

Thank you very much for replying, Mark. Damage points associated to agility appear to have been decreased, too. Can you confirm this? Per Stephen, I should have seen a 30 - 50% decrease in weapon damage, but I took at least a 70% hit, which I assume is from a combination of weapon damage and agility damage reduction. |

This is great news MarkT. I almost have tears in my eyes from finally getting feedback. I might test it out and give my opinion on what I think. Thanks again, really needed at these times These changes seems quite good to begin with. Atleast we know its not going to take 1 month or 2 months for some changes to take effect. I canceled my account some days ago, and will now reconsider start playing again. Just hope more feedback to the player-base would be given in the future to come. ![]() |

sounds great though there might...might still be issues after that....but i'm not sure. one thing though is the agi influence in damage. i have also noticed that agi increased damage the same as int with spells. 1 point damage per 1 point attribute. I took the following two screenshots to show this, i believe it shows this very well. both with very close attribute lvls between str and agi though with the hammer its a no lvl requirement weapon, and the shotgun is much higher lvl. though you can see that for yourself. hammer shotgun |

/agree with Ripper and Mama about the Mage changes. The int Bonus is a greath thing but I was using Ice shards (was too powerful I agree) but I'll still use it for big groups I think. And snowbird I don't only farm lv30 dungeons, i also run Hdol, Shadow Embrace and Shadow Pinacle. Be lv100 don't make Shadow Embrace, Embercore and hdol easier, they scale to your level. -------------------- Sorry for my English, I am French ![]() |

I am very happy to see that they are tweaking the game and answering our cries! Its fantastic to see the devs listening to a feedback and prioritising. Build 51 is going to be released in the next hour or so. I can see that these fixes will help everyone solo more comfortably now, although it wont be as plain sailing and easy as it was before, but lets see... Other things i would like to see fixed are, Butcher and Cleaver.. the main 2 skills for a warrior you'd think as they link to weapon damage and aren't mage like skills. However these are basically useless at the moment. Would be well worth fixing these too.. but i guess warriors aren't too bad at the moment and aren't your main priority. Still keep up the good work! I might make a post regarding membership benefits.. to get some good suggestions flowing. Furious. |

I've always been a mage from the get-go. Why can't a mage melee? Is there some unwritten law that I'm not aware of? I use fire bolt at a distance and lightning on my left button connected to my main melee attack and it works just fine. I have no qualms about using 1H or 2H weapons. What's the problem? |

Quote: Your posts makes it sound like you are judging the balance of the game based on how often you have to chug potions. That's pretty absurd. In almost every other game certain ranged classes (ie, mages) are designed to take on physical damage rarely, if at all. You all should consider a Nightmare, and Hell difficulty as to leave Normal mode for mindless fun for those who want it. |

You know what'll make the game more fun? If they had better quest rewards. Maybe EXP or good items for your class? I mean whats the point of doing the quest if all you get are King Coins (Which are dropped now) and Money (Which everyone knows, its very easy to get alot of money fast in this game). Better quest rewards plz. Make the quest actually worth doing |
