Stacks of Kings coins and quests stuck on cursor
#15993 - 02/24/07 01:43 AM |
Place: both times happened in town 1st time was a stack of 6 kings coins, got stuck on cursor, couldn't drop them, couldn't log out, couldn't talk to any quest giver, couldn't drop back in inventory or on ground. Was told in game to repeatedly click both mouse buttons and "if i do it right" it will drop. After about 4 minutes of constant clicking, they finally dropped back into inventory. 2nd instance: Since it repeated a second time, it is still a repeatable bug, and therefore should be fixable by developers. This time, had a stack of 12 quest items in the form of a scroll (adoption papers i believe) again was in town after selling spare items in inventory, attempted to move them inside the inventory window and they stuck to my cursor. This time again I couldn't drop them on the ground or in the inventory screen, tried the repeated both button mouse clicks, for 15 minutes with no success. Couldn't log off properly since no mouse control, couldn't talk to quest giver since it won't initiate a conversation without recognizing the initial mouse click, can't log off, have to alt+tab out and use windows task manager to shut the process down, which causes a fault when restarting, so have to shut machine down completely, restart, and try to get back into game. Even after logging back in, the "scrolls" are still stuck in my hand. Now I have a level 27 fighter, who i paid membership for that i can't use, and have to play a non membership newbie character until some resolution is made. Email from tech support said to post this on the bug reports of this forum. Since the previous thread i posted in wasn't directly for this issue, I decided to post a new thread so others can see what is happening. Evidently this was a known issue for stacks of 6, 8 or 10 kings coins pre-board wipe. But it still occurs with other stacked items, so beware. 1 week lost isn't bad, but feel if a game is charging for access, they should resolve issues without needing us to delete our account and start over. This is something to be expected during beta phase, but not post beta. LordWarlock4 Sr Quality Assurance Analyst/QA Lead (banking industry/Military support) |

Clicking both mouse buttons to release these is kind of a glitch. The real solution is to put them back in the same slot you picked them up from. If you still wish to move them to another slot, pick up somethign else (a non-stackable item) and use the "trade" method to pick up stacks. for some reason this only happens with stacks...(scroll stacks, potions stacks, kings coins etc...) |

After playing an alternate for a few hours, i decided to go back in and see if i could release the stack. I found that if you leave the inventory window open, and stand in the obelisk area (surrounding area) rapid clicking of mouse button 1 and 2, but both, kind of shakes the item loose and it falls to the ground. I then closed the inventory window, and clicked the stack to pick them up again. Seemed to work ok. Got back into the game and played for a couple hours, but inside the dungeon (level 6 of algernon searching for a quest giver) the stack of 12 items got stuck when i tried to move a scroll next to the stack and must have twitched. It would not release inside the dungeon no matter what i tried, but after alt+tab out and quitting the application, restarting and logging on, this time to a different server/world was able to quick click and drop it in town again. This time i just left the stack on the ground and deleted the quest in question. Wasn't worth the effort or frustration. |

That's odd. A lot of people have stacks of 10 or 20 coins and quest items that get stuck, but I've never heard of it happening with less. -------------------- Swordgleam - Level 40-something Arcane Fighter Vanishing into the wilderness from May 25 to late August. |

OMG, this bug happened to me. I was so mad! Thankfully, we've resolved it in version 45. Sorry about that... This bug is caused by the number that's drawn on top on the item's icon. It's improperly set to eat mouse clicks. In some resolutions, certain items have the number barely cover the middle of the icon. This is bad, because that's where your mouse cursor is. So, when you click, the number eats the click and nothing happens!I think you can get around this by clikcing while moving the icon around quickly. Especially if you're in a slow FPS area. That's because your "invisible" mouse moves faster than the icon can draw. So, if you move fast while clicking then you'll likely get out of it. Man, this bug made me so mad, I could spit. I feel your pain! Sorry for that... steve |

Quote: Definitely serious. Stephen is one of the more passionate, some might say colorful, developers out there. ![]() And when it comes to cases like this, it's a good thing! |

Oh, I'm being serious. I sat at my computer for 10 minutes trying to drop a full stack of quest items. And, because I was clicking so fast, I'd often drop the item and pick it right back up. I was very mad. ![]() steve |
