Kaylaena Leveling Up Stats?
#15631 - 02/20/07 02:06 PM

So I was wondering being new to Dungeon Runners and reading a lot of the boards I do not really see a posting on how people are leveling up their fighters. I would like an opinion on how you level out your stats.

I was thinking of going every level 2 STR 2 END and 1 AGI. Thoughts and/or comments/suggestions?

I do mine roughly like that. I don't really do it the same each time. I don't really have a plan. I just know that the more endurance I have, the longer I live.

That sounds about right. 3 str 1 end 1 agi also works, as does 2 str 1 end 1 agi 1 int if you plan on using things like Soul Rend. I'll generally pour 5 points each level into str, unless I'm missing in which case all 5 go into agi, or if I'm dying a lot in which case most go to end.

I level up STR and END only, and I do just fine.

My current character is pure strength. I use stat bonuses from equipment to raise other stats.

The good part is that I have a really high defense rating and I pretty much one-shot every common monster. The Butcher skill will one-shot bosses.

The bad is that I have less health and mana than than the average fighter and I often miss when attacking.

I like to balance it between END and STR, because you can never have enough hit points bwahah!

I have about 80 agility at level 39. On level 1 of Mutanous Malaise (for lvl 30-50) I miss at least 20% of the time. Many people say they dont miss, or guess at a percentage, but I actually counted hits and misses.

Missing 20% of the time is annoying. Plus, I think its more against bosses, although I haven't studied it.

I'm thinking of raising, not lowering agility. However, I am likely to do it through gear to keep my flexibility up. 65 base agility is a little too high and crimps my gear choices a bit.

I went all Str so far on Gehanna my fighter. Using equipment to off set the shortcomings. I often opt for vamparic gear. For example i have a 5% health steal weapon 1% health 1 % mana steal helm and chest plate. at 7 % health steal 2% mana I almost never need to pop a pot. even on bosses one on one i will steal more hitpoints then they inflict.

Current gear has me with 8000 hitpoints 1100 attack rating and 3900 defence rating. thats at level 54.

Somebody I met today went pure endurance and had about 4000 HP at level 10. Never died.

would be slow exp gain/lvlup after a while though i'd imagine.. although.. i guess i get most of my stats from gear anyways...

The problem with pumping just one stat is that you are forced to use gear that makes up the difference in the other stats. This can be a problem in that it narrows the options for gear you can use. If you build up your stats more evenly, you can use a variety of the new gear without gimping yourself too much.

I've been going 4STR 1END most of the time, if i feel i need it sometimes the other way round. I tent not to pay attention to AGI

best idea so you can have an effective fighter without depending on gear is str 3; agi 2; end 3 since when I first made a char I made him all-around later I made him into a solo machine that can take 12 enemies at a time, this is without any gear except a good old fashioned two-handed purple hammer :) this is in the 20's. Now the thing was I missed a little, but having that extra help of gear I didn't much trouble.

Yeah, I'd have a pretty buff character, too, if I got 8 points to add per level. :p

I usually go STR AGI and END...in most cases 3,1,1 respectively unless I see I'm lacking somewhere which is when I dump the whole 5 in one. Now I'm focusing more on AGI cuz by the headless spook jenova I hate missing

I'm 47 now, and I think that 3 str 1 end 1 agi is probably about right.

You might find yourself putting on more +agi gear at higher levels than you would at lower levels. Attack rating seems fairly irrelevant until about level 35 or so, and then it becomes a significant factor.

There are a couple of bosses in the game (at level 40+) where your attack rating is reduced by 50% so you'll definitely need a very high attack rating to still hit them when they've reduced it by 50%, especially considering that they're a level above you by nature, which means you already suffer a 10% attack rating decrease.

If my sword goes whoooosh through the air and misses too many times, agility gets a boost.

If I'm not doing enough damage then strength gets a boost.

If I need too many potions then endurance gets the boost.

If I am distracted and click on the wrong button intelligence gets a boost.

Blenda, without a plan, as usual.

I'm only 15 so far but..
If I see myself miss a lot, I put it all into agi.
Otherwise, 3 str, 2 end.

Night_Spire Re: Leveling Up Stats? [Re: #18965]
#20160 - 04/27/07 11:55 AM

I'm using a ratio to generate what I want my character to be at end game.

I'm basically saying that I want a 2:1 STR:END ratio, and a 4:1 STR:AGI ratio.

Ratios are hard to plan for on a level by level basis, but lets say you gained two levels. The stat spreads using my planned ratios would be: 6 str, 3 end, 1 agi. If you had gained three levels it would be 9 str, 4 end, 2 agi. The ratios stay pretty consistent as you level, but do need to be relative to the number of points you get. End game assuming 100 levels and 5 points per level it would look like: 285 STR, 140 END, 75 AGI.

I need to find a post that has all of the "base" starting stats so that I can calculate the "total" end game base stats. If anyone has something like that let me know.

#20176 - 04/27/07 02:03 PM

The thing with calculating that closely is, stats are so much less than gear that a couple pieces of gear could take you from 2:1 str/end to 1:2 str/end no matter where you've been putting your points. If you want to plan carefully, that's cool, but you're going to have to spend a lot of time finding just the right piece of gear.

Night_Spire Re: Leveling Up Stats? [Re: #20176]
#20190 - 04/27/07 02:42 PM

The idea behind planning closely is more to create a character that is weighted or pre disposed to function in a certain manner. Gear will ALWAYS be a variable in character builds, but by using base stats you can ensure that your character will be pre disposed to exceed at a certain area of combat. Be that brute stregnth, enduring resiliance, or extreme accuracy.

I've actually found the opposite true. I wish I'd put more points into agi, because right now I need one or two pieces of +agi gear to have a decent hit rate, and I'd rather have more flexibility in my gear options. I don't care as much about agi, but if I'd put more points into it, I wouldn't have to think about it.

Same here... I wish I'd thought out my choides earlier in stead of having to go back and correct them now that I'm 40.
I've actually started a 1:2:1:1 approached. Since I solo 90% of the time I need some int for the AoE spells, which with boosts I'm up almost 1000 mana but it's still hard sometime. The +1% mana steal I have helps greatly.
Str and End are both in the 200's with my boosts so I've got close to 10k hp and atk is almost 1.5k at the max end.
So if I could go back and start over I would definitely put more in to agi from the start.

My intial allotments was an alternating 3:1:1:0/ 1:1:3:0/ 3:0:1:1/ 1:0:3:1 complicated I know but I keep a notebook handy:)
