Mage stats
#15034 - 02/13/07 12:13 AM

I'm wondering if I should invest points into str for defense rating. I already know int and end are a must but not sure how to treat str. Any advice?

Thank you

Personally I wouldnt, if you are getting close enough to the monsters for them to beat on you, you are in trouble. It might help a little with range mobs, but you can usually get out of their way. It wont help with spellcasters and they are the ones that hurt you the most.

You only need Int/end. I would do something I didn't with Ibalaki, put stats points in End, so you can control how much HP you want then use only +int gear wich gives no end or def. If you want to dodge monsters attack you'll need too much Str (Def) at high level.

I'm still pretty new but I've been putting about 3-2 or 4-1 into Int-End each lvl and it works pretty good

I've found that you need strength if you're going to be wielding swords, axes, or clubs (melee weapons). I prefer ranged weapons, primarily shotguns, so along with intellect, I load up on agility, too.

I did get my first dragon fin weapon (two-handed sword) yesterday, so maybe I'll have to increase my strength for a while.

I noticed 1 int = 2 more dps for the fire ball spell plus additional mana so I just made the decision early to go pure int for the sake higher damage with 100 levels in the game that should be a noticeable difference as I progress in levels. I do die fairly easy if I'm not real careful, but that's to be expected.

This is interesting because I was thinking of doing what I did with my sorcerer in Diablo... I put most of my points, not all, into the typical fighter stats. By the time I was at the end of the game, and beyond, I was nigh unstoppable.

Not sure if that is viable here though.

I've also stacked most my points into Int, then End & put a few here & there into Agility & Str. I'm still new to the game & learning, but are there wands at all for mages? Trying to see if I've missed those or not.

+int or +int/end
+% (element)
+dmg (element)

My plan is to put 5 points into Int every level up to 100, and look for gear that gives Sta.

I like being a Glass Cannon. Death comes with the territory.

I would suggest that you invest most of your points toward int and +1 to End until you start dying unreasonable before you start investing in str.
+4 int,+1 end for every lvl
+3 int, +1 to end and str for every other lvl if you think you need more help.

+STR is useless. Find +block rate %. If you get hit, you're probably gonna get one or two-shotted. If you block, you deflect all damage. Block doesn't work on STR, so it'll always be there to protect you if the dice rolls in your favor. You're a mage, not a tank, so STR is pointless.

IM splitting my End and int 50/50 the way i figure it if i live longer i'll do more dmg, so more hp = indirectly more dmg.

im lvl 28 with 3k hp,and nonmember. dunno if its good or not but i rarely have to use pots at all.

How much End per Int should I go?

It's a balancing act, if you feel like you're dying too quickly, add more end to boost your health, if you feel okay, don't add as much to end and put it in int instead to boost your damage output. As a rough guide, you'll probably want slightly more int than end, but keep them close. At level 37, I'm running at a 7:4 int to end ratio.

If you are talking about distribution of attribute points from gaining levels the answer is zero. All of your endurance should come from armor/loot. At higher levels difficulty is increased by raising the amount of mobs per group. For example, at level 50 in Shadows Embrace a group of mobs will be a total of 15-20 but at level 75 that goes up to 25 to 30 or higher(and beyond 75 this continues to scale UP) if you are unlucky and pull two groups. You need to have a big enough mana pool and enough dps to survive. This is calculated by your INT attribute.

Always take +5 points in Intellect when you level and balance the rest with loot.

Interesting is all the mobs in the game are aggro you blast one 4 or 5 come too. Mages will die a lot with those odds.
Plus I have not found a weapon that gives good damage and is fast. I am at lvl 10 and leveling is crazy cause you die so easily from aggro mobs. They all are aggro makes no sense to me.
