Potions NPC
#14235 - 01/31/07 03:52 PM |
Given that: A. Non-members can both purchase and pickup members potions. B. Non-members cannot use members potions. I think that there should be a NPC who unbinds the members potions into non-members potions. As in you give him a stack of five members potions, and he gives you 5 separate non-members potions. This would let non-members have a use for members potions in case they miss buy or whatever. Alternatively, there could also be a potion binder, who would bind non-members potions into members potions and give members a use for non-members potions. |

Interesting idea, although at level 20 the cash drops vastly defray the costs of potions... to the point that it's a non-issue to me. If anything, I end up selling stacks of pots for inv space. Heck, people frequently drop free potions in town. In essence this is already in effect, in that a non-member can sell his member potions to the store and use that money to buy non-member pots. Does this hold up up in the later game (HDoL)? Edited by Dooms (01/31/07 04:00 PM) |

Post level 15 or so, players find everything as cheap, but for the lower level players this would help, and it would let me not waste all of the potions I already have. And in responce to your question, no items never really get more expensive. Unless you power level like Tachan, and don't pick up items while leveling. As long as you pick up some of your items, money is never a problem. -------------------- Dungeon Loafer, for those of us with too many heavy items.

That would be nice. I think a solution to this and the much lesser problem of erratic wp scroll drops (some runs you get none, some you get 20) would be a "have a penny, leave a penny, need a penny, take a penny" type box. People already do this near the obelisk anyway, but something a little more official. A box where you can drop off potions or scrolls that you don't need, and pick up any that are there. I doubt it would need to get any more complicated than that, but if people abused it, you could give a 'credit' for dropping an item and spend the credit to get an item. Drop a few extra wp scrolls, then a few days later run out of them? Grab a couple that someone else left. Got the wrong kind of potion? Drop it off for someone who needs it, and pick up the right type. The only downside I can see is that no one would buy wp scrolls, ever. But I think I've only bought 3 all game, and I'm lvl 35 at the moment. There's also the matter of lower level potions being cheaper, so in theory you could have a lower lvl alt buy a ton of pots and drop them off, then pick them up with your lvl 90.. but that's just not worth it. And again, the aforementioned 'credits' system would deter it. -------------------- Swordgleam - Level 40-something Arcane Fighter Vanishing into the wilderness from May 25 to late August. |

Just like yellow and up items, you do have one use for them, you can sell them to a vendor...cheers! They dont want to give anyone incentive to be a "free" player, so dont expect any concessions that make it advantageous to play for "free", cuz it aint gonna happen. |

I just leave the Member pots on the ground. There not worth my time, along with the green and grey items. |

Members should only get members potion and non-members only non-members potion in my opinion. -------------------- Sorry for my English, I am French ![]() |
