Just wanted to say Hello
#57608 - 05/07/08 10:20 AM

Hi just wanted to say hello. First time posting here I came over from CoV/CoH. Played there for over 2 years and I am looking forward to meeting and running with you all down the road. So far the game has went above my expectations. If you all know of any Active Guilds (lol or SG's as we call them in CoX) please let me know. Because I am already talking about this game to my SG members over on CoX. Alot of them are going to start to try it. We are Active and love to run. Once again look forward to seeing you all down the road.

Don't tell Lighthouse or Ex Libris this, but bring all the COH players you can! If anything they need to come out and see why we're different yet oh-so good.

Welcome aboard. I'm glad you like the game. I hope it is making you laugh!

Yeah we are trying to bring our whole sg over. Simply because after doing everything you can on both sides of CoX over and over gets real boring. We all looked at I12 on open beta last night and all I can say is disappointed. Plus we are getting tired of all the Pwrlvlers in PI and Grandville. Hopefully we have found a good new address to call home now because our old one was getting bad everyday. But thank you all for the warm welcome. Look forward to running and getting to know you all.

Hold your horses. Your character can play on any world, it is not restricted. World 7 is considered to be a better community because they is a congregation of mature players there that scares the idiots away. For your benefit...

World 1: Most populated world, also has a higher concentration of idiots. You'll often find chat being spammed or hosting flame wars. Most new players join this world first, unfortunately. "Dystopia" of DR.

World 2: Member's Only World. Nothing special except there aren't any non-members and very few new players. Less populated than World 1.

World 3: Considerably less populated than World 1. Other than that, nothing special.

World 4: Same as World 3.

World 5: The PvP World, it is possible to play PvE here as well however. Majority of population are (you guessed it) PvPers, which in general are a hot-headed lot... thus, flame wars are not uncommon. The most common phrase in use here is "GG".

World 6: Same as Worlds 3 and 4.

World 7: The "mature" world, most of the adult players congregate here. Almost completely devoid of trolling or spam, including people spamming up market chat to advertise their wares: because World 7 has a "no trading" rule. Instead, items people cannot use are gifted to those who can use them. Idiotic behaviour could get you mass ignored very quickly. "Utopia" of DR. Population is about the same as Worlds 3, 4 and 6.

You don't have to delete your toon. when you log in and choose a server your toons follow you.

:-) All the worlds have there pluses and minuses. Try a few out.

Also note: the Three guilds that I mention Previously congrate on W7 for the most part.

Sigh

== Edit ==

World 7 same as all other worlds. Both members and nonmembers can go here. This world is populated by normal people. The only special thing is that a big group of those people all together hate spam, annoying noobs, trading and me. You might like it, use at own risk. All rules apply to this world, and there arent any more. The only thing is that this set group of people follow their own "Guidelines", which include gift giving instead of trading. Due to this set group of people, it often is called more mature then other worlds, which is IMO, bad to say and incorrect.

Sorry Necro, but it was pretty incorrect. I dislike when people try to get others to their world, and say its much "better" then the others.

sorry to hear that Tigers and you are right getting to lvl 17 shouldnt take too long. The bummer is you lost the good gear/gold you got but maybe this way you can lvl up with your friends and all start at lvl 1 together.

Actually LR, I don't go to World 7 very often. My "Homeworld" of choice is World 1: I'm more of a chaos-lover than an order-lover.

I certainly did not say World 7 is better than the other worlds, or the people are better: I know I used the term "Mature" and "Utopia", but that's why they're in quotation marks because they're moot (and personally, I like dystopian environments better when it comes to entertainment). Oh yes, I made that comment "[hypnosis]Come to World 7[/hypnosis], but that was mainly a joke, and really; it IS better to start off at World 7 because you can get answers to questions more readily: ask a question in World 1 and chances are you will be ignored, yelled at (rarely), or you simply won't see people's replies because of the spam.

I don't understand why you say my evaluation of World 7 is incorrect when your evaluation is almost the same as mine, with different wording. I called the "Item gifting" thing a "rule" because if you don't do it, you'll be flame-grilled/ignored by everyone in the World: so essentially it IS a rule.

Its the main way people think of those little small things. And when new people take that over, as I seen multiple times, it actually sounds like "One of the rules is that trading is not allowed in this world". It'll confuse people and next to that isnt too good for the EULA either. I did not based my post on your [hypno][/hypno] thingy by the way. But when it comes to explaining all worlds and telling world 7 is mature, is cool, is friendly, and for the other worlds say its just a world, with more trolls, bad people ect ect than in world7. That looked like world 7 is much better and everyone should go there, I warn ya, thats your second world 1.

You argue against a biased view of the servers, and then you proceed to submit your own? World 7 is the second world 1?

Obviously, you have a problem with the seventh server and that is fine and good. What it all boils down to is opinion. The residents of world 7 think it is better on that world (myself included). One from world 4 may think their world is the best. Who cares what server a new player goes to? Each person is capable of deciding on his or her own if they like it or not.

Seriously, arguing over the "best world" is about as mature as the PvP vs. PvE dribble. Oh, and which class is the "best" (in a fragging classless game)! People are going to have pissing matches over anything, but it is ignorant.

necromatrix you are probably too new to forums to understand what LR is saying. Every world has its ups and downs/ good and bad points but there is no need to do what the other has done. Say come to this such and such world as this is the "so" called community.

I have been on other forums than this, so, yes I understand the "forum community". There are divisions and particulars to this community just as any other. (Furthermore, the forums are not the whole of the DR community.) Moreover, just like in a real community there are further divisions (for our case, the servers and PvP). Each division is going to have advocates and "nay sayers". One person (or even a group of people) arguing against these divisions is pointless. Despite the fact that this is an online community based around a game, people are still people. Thus, they will still exhibit all of the traits of a human, and perhaps even more so since they are safe behind a computer screen.

Thanx! I find this very usefull.

I kinda fell embarrassed in coming to w7 with my lvl 18 (started new toon) mostly because there are few people that are at this stage, considering about 60% or so are over the age of 25ish. (just guessing.. am i right? =P) Obviously you can be very immature on internet at any age...

I started off by going on w1 (i think everyone does) and found it very annoying with all the spamming, then thanx to you guys, that told me that w7 was more "mature" so i thought that i would start coming there too. I straight away (not thinking) started saying things like "any lvl xx wanna join group ,usually 2 times in a row) and i guess that i got iggyed by a few people, then realized that there was no point... now all i do is go in the players list and see players that are at the same lvl as i am, then whisper to them and see if they wanna play (anyone else do this?)

I was talking with LordMagnus today, and was saying that i found it hard staying round older people then me, but only because most of the time i dont know what they talking about =P (seeing im only 14 this doesn't surprise me) an example would be on the "Word Association" forum that most of the time i don't know what all these fancy words mean..

anyway, sorry i went a bit off topic.

and welcome Tiger! =)

The only two things that I can say with fact/proof about any world versus the others are these:

1. On multiple occasions, different devs have come on W7 and asked by what good grace they came to visit the people there... The response was the same in one way or another(from a few of the very very well known devs) : "W7 is pretty laid back and usually has more mature people playing." And, "It seems that a lot of the forum-goers come here or reside here so feedback is easy to get and is useful and appreciated." If its good enough for the devs...

2. Every night noobs and others post in world chat, "Man, I'm glad I came here. Theres a whole lot less spam, arguing and trolls compared to where I was playing before..."

Besides, the argument and the discussion itself lends to the proof that people are different: or there wouldn't be anything to argue about now would there? Is it a coincidence that people call W7 "carebear land" or "happy town", etc, etc, etc...I don't think so, or there wouldn't be such widespread discussion and feelings about it. I mean look at the whole (gone and over and "shouldn't have happened but was carried to far by lots of people") situation with w7 and a generally well-liked, respected and good player that left us/here - no names need to be said.

Personally I dont care where anyone plays as long as they enjoy their experience (and thats different for each person), as I really try and get along with everyone. But its hard to argue that the worlds aren't very different. As Necro said (and btw xorekle, he's been around for a good amount of time): some people like a dystopia and some people like what they call a "utopia" (which w7 is HARDLY even close). Its preference, but just because "you" dont think theres a difference doesnt mean there isnt.

Ive played w2 when I first started for a few months, moved to 4 and thought Id be there for good (with BroadShadow, Bogey, and a bunch of other "old" players). Then that post popped up on the forums about the w7 "rules" - which I flamed and couldnt believe that someone would post something like that! THE NERVE! So I went there to see this supposedly great world that was "better for some"...

...and had to eat my size 15 boots, including the mud on the soles. Never turned back, made new chars after chunk 2, and now reside there solely - because the community is more friendly, generally more mature, and generally less combative. Now, if thats my opinion, as well as many others, than so be it - but its a widespread one and thus hold some merit.

There's no need to argue as no one is "recruiting" and we dont get any special benefit having MORE people on (in fact, less ppl are usually on w7 I think when I log on). Point is, the worlds ARE different, and its very well known to many people - and thats why they play where they play.

Now cmon, do we really need to be arguing about something like this? What is it going to prove/do besides get people all bent for no good reason. Maybe someone will try world 7 and HATE it because people are too silly/nice/etc... but maybe the other way around - and no one can predict or help that.

So please all (to steal a term ) "nubcakes" : Try all the worlds from top to bottom and pick your position, or float everyday - just have a good time!
