Feedback on the upcoming build
#45172 - 01/22/08 09:49 PM

For those of you that don't always look at the Dev forum. See Stephen's post.

Okay, some feedback:

1. New dungeon...Nice! Level 55+, the gap between Abby/Shadow Queen and Ratsputin which is perfect. Please don't make it into another Abby/SQ. Also, no notes about whether or not Abby/SQ is going to be adjusted in difficulty?

2. Snowman summoning skill...sounds neat. Gah, I need to figure out which alt I'm switching for this. I need more character slots.

3. Yay for class specific jewelry...now can you refund the 400 KCs I spent just to get a decent mage ring?

4. Permanent waypoint and waypoint expansion...excellent. No need to just have a second account just to store waypoints.

5. I think the two bug fixes that standout in my mind is the level 90s PvP fix and the monster bait fix.

6. Ice mage gear! Sweet! But my shadow mage is still sad.

Oh well, really looking forward to the new build, Stephen. Hopefully, it'll make a fast pass through QA, etc.

I love 99% of the coming updates.

The other 1% is the idea of advertising in the form of item links. I pay explictly to avoid advertising.

Abby difficulty has been adjusted.

I do believe that the mythic item pass adds more shadow gear as well as ice... I'll verify that.

As for the marketing items... the "Ten Ton Hammer" is an experiment. We've worked out a deal with the Ten Ton Hammer folks to provide an item that looks like their logo. When you look at its tooltip you will see a link to their website. It's not that intrusive. In trade, they will give us some good treatment on their website.

Although, to be clear, if there's some demand for this kind of item placement then we'll take advantage of it. Of course, only if the item makes sense for our game.

Just remembered: what happened to guilds/posses? Is that going to make this build?

Posse support is coming with Chunk 3. This build is a Heave. Heave, Chunk, Heave, Chunk... just like a hangover morning!

Also with Chunk 3 there's an open group browser instead of the "Find Group" feature... and a totally upgraded social window. The updated social window almost made this build, but we pushed it to make sure it's good.

I knew you guys were out on the edge with "Monster Bait", "Offensive Gesture" and Awesome Cleavage" but “Balzack’s Burrow”?

Do we need a Roshambo skill to take down the boss?

All kidding aside, the patch looks great and full to the brim with DR goodness.

51 quests for Embercore is fantastic! As far as I recall there have never been any quests in Embercore. If you can get Shadows Embrace quests into the next Chunk then you will have bridged one gap in content, the one between 50 and 75.

Like FSeries I was also thinking where's the adjustments to Abbadon for difficulty, sometimes though it's nice to have a few surprises on patch day.

The "branded" weapon is pretty genius as well.

Stephen, thanks for dropping in to give us the good word, please tell the whole crew thank you for all of their hard work. Go QA!!!

We just doubled our design staff... and hired a new technical artist. We still have two programmer openings to fill.

What does that mean?

Tons of new content at an unprecedented rate... that's what. Quests for Shadow's Embrace is just the beginning. We still have another 10 dungeons to make!

This alone will probably make a lot of the 100s happy.

Well, I haven't seen it yet so I won't go on at length about it. I just hope that it doesn't feel like advertising when I see it since that defeats my intent for paying for a subscription. If I wanted to see ads, I could see ads for free

It seems like we've heard a lot less from the devs for alittle while now, any reason why that is?

This happens from time to time, sadly. Dungeon Runners doesn't have a dedicated community manager. So, we rely on developers to log on and give information to the players. I usually do that.

However, when things get busy, I post on the boards less frequently. We've been really busy the past month with vacations, hiring, build preparations and other sundry and important tasks.

Communication comes in spurts at this time.

Crikette is our community manager... but she's not dedicated for DR. She also supports Lineage and Exteel.

Two handed rifles, can't wait! These chunks just keep getting better and better, imagine what DR is going to be like in the next 12 months

Some questions about the new features:

2-handed rifles- Would you verify that these would be available for the lower level players for us? I know of no one that had seen the Judge and Duke Blaster for players in the teens. We would love for these to be across the board.

Matching system- what will happen for groups? Will the matching be based on the highest level member of the group? Will 100s still be able to group with low levs?

New mythics -- awaiting details.. hehehe

I'm sure all Mythics appear at least as low as level 10, if I am not mistaken... or maybe they even appear to all levels, I dunno.

2-handed rifles for rangers-
Would you please verify that these would be available for the lower level players for us? I know of no one that had seen the guns, Judge BigMutha or Duke Blaster, for players in the 10-20 range. We would love for these to be across the board.
