Chunk #1: Multiple Character Support Feedback
#32845 - 08/21/07 03:04 PM

Please place all feedback regarding the Multiple Character Support System in this thread.

PLEASE TEST BEFORE YOU POST!

PTS Patch Notes:

Multiple Character Support

This build has increased the number of characters supported on each account to three. You will notice an updated character selection and creation UI to support this new feature.

We are working to provide a website where you can consolidate your existing member accounts to a single account. However, the ETA on this new feature is not yet known.

The character select window is a wonderful addition and once multiple characters are created, the movement between them is smooth. It would be nice to have an option to camp to character select rather than the existing Logout option, but that is a small quality of life feature.

Cheers,

There are a number of configuration options tied to the base installation of the game: graphics settings, difficulty level, etc... If I switched accounts, I'd have to change difficulty settings between members and non-members on the same computer, for example.

Now that multiple characters are supported per account, can difficulty and settings be tied to them individually? For example, I was running Dew Valley on Insane with with the blue loot filter for my lowbie character. When I logged back in as Ulrich (lvl 76) today, I forgot I was on Insane and got pwned in the Gulag before I figured it out. On top of that, my loot filter for Ulrich should be gold and up.

These particular settings should be specific to the characters, not the entire installation.

Yeah, this is a really good idea.

The multi-character is very beautifully made, as is the rest, congrats to all. I wish to agree whole-heartedly to the issues mentioned, both the options being individually attuned and also to login out to the character screen instead of account screen.

Also, and I know I am being very cheeky here, but I have to suggest this, what about shared banks for same account characters? I know this would drastically limit the space you have but at the same time it would make it easier to equip your characters with something nice you happened to find with the wrong class, and we know this happens all the time. I've been keeping some nicies for my mage for example, and the only option I can think of at the moment for transfering them over is to give them to someone else. Not an overly great idea in my mind.

i would love to see a way to transfer items to one of you other characters but i was thinking a way of doing it would be some sort of mail system kinda like wow. Make it cost a decent ammount of gold to send it. just a thought on something diff then sharing banks

That will result in goldfarming in this game too I'm afraid, while with the shared banks you can't exploit someone else, unless they actively wish to trade with you, you can only manage items between your own characters.

i disagree with the gold farming, i kno wi cant speak for everyone but if the cost was level dependent it wouldnt be that bad, and besides since people alreayd farm for items and get tons of gold as a side beneift i dont know if anyone will ever end up needing gold. personally ever since i hit 1 million gold i have never need any since, in my opinion there is more then enough gold , for some of us to the point that cost means absolutely nothing really.

The multi-char support is nicely done. I like the character selection box in the upper left, its neat, informative, not overdone or obscure.

I would like to be able to set certain options on a per-character basis (difficulty and loot filter especially). Tied to this it would be nice if waypoint scrolls showed up even if you filter out normal items (I noticed that gold at least shows up). I could care less about most normal items but waypoint scrolls can still be handy to pick up (thougha s a member I ignore lesser pots).

I also agree with the option to camp to char select (though going out to login screen isn't as bad as if we had to shutdown and relaunch entirely).

Also a shared bank slot(s) would be nice, maybe not the entire bank but maybe have a special slot or two where we could put a non-soulbound item so one of our other characters could pick it up, and as long as there's an item there another can't be placed. I think this would be a nice balance and since the slot is still tied to a single account there's no concern over gold farming. I hate to use other games as a comparison but the closest I can come to an example is the 4 shared bank slots in EQ2 where items in those slots can be seen by all chars on the account (and in their case with the same alignment). An added bonus would be being able to deposit gold in the bank to be shared between characters. My level 30 has more gold than he needs but my newbie mage is still lagging behind on spells.

I also would love to see this option added eventually. Not with a mail system though, I think either a second tab in the bank vault (similar to the caravans in Titan Quest) or some shared slots like in EQ 2 would be great. This would make a great membership perk...although some option for non-members would be nice too. But I would like to add to the chorus of "yeas" on this subject.
