New "Type" of Dugeon - Ruled by a team for an hour
#32679 - 08/19/07 08:29 PM |
The Idea: How about.. a Dugeon with a special feature, ie.. Gaurenteed rainbow per victor would be nice and worth the effort whatever else you can think up. Details: --This dungeon has a time limit after its won in a PvP by teams (5 v 5) King of the hill rules. --After the contest is finished the dungeon will last an hour then up for contest again. --Include one dungeon per level range :1-10, 10-20 ecetra so nobody misses out. Possibly lvl 5 gaps given the higher lvls because theres a big difference at 80 to 85. --Once the boss is dead, it cannot be reset. Make it mandatory insane difficulty and the boss unqique and huge, like Dragons for instance... Side notes: -- Call them "Dragon Caves" ... given the hordes your bound to find there and the battles to be the slayers. -- Perhaps throw the PVP out of the picture OR DO BOTH of these! Include the Entrance to the Dragon Cave randomly on already created dungeons. Put in One Dragon Cave per day per lvl range... ie Dew Forest vs HDOL. One a day given a time? and the PvP King of the Hill & Whenever the victors reset and up for battle again. Keep a time to an hour for auto-reset. --Tell me what you think folks in my Twiigs poll. http://www.twiigs.com/poll/Politics/4533 |

This sounds like it could be a lot of fun! I might actually consider PVP if I could get to a "dragon cave" as a reward! Cool idea. |

Well, this is a nice suggestion to allow more people access to Rainbows than a random drop allows. Let me tell you what I liked about your suggestion. You added an event in PVP that would allow people to have fun and an attainable goal for that event. (It is something rather similar to what Guild Wars has.) You even added a way other than PVP for the goal to be reached. (Applause - not everyone likes PVP.) I do see two problems with your idea, however. Now, I am not saying your idea is not bad - it just needs a bit of work. Usually the beginnings of ideas do - that's why they call them ideas before they are turned into plans. 1) As it stands, from what I understand (and I could be wrong) the chances for Mythic items to drop starts at level 15 - and that is a VERY rare chance of happening. So (IMO) the levels of this idea would need to be adjusted a wee bit. 2) While people farm bosses & dungeons (like HDoL) for Rainbows, they are a random drop. This would introduce a guaranteed drop for Mythic weapons. While everyone wants Rainbows....I just don't think that this (a guaranteed drop) would be good for the game. Yesterday, just in regular play, I picked up 2 (my 1st 2 - at levels 31 & 32) in 1 day...no farming, just regular play. I got one off of a Hero in Tomb of the Ice Climber (can't remember the name of the mob off the top of my head right now) while on Insane!, and the other popped out of chest on Level 4 of The Widower's Nest while on Normal. (That's right, Normal!) What I would be more agreeable to than a guaranteed Rainbow drop would be a higher chance of a Mythic drop. But then, that is just my opinion. ![]() Keep yours coming! ![]() Edited: corrected some spelling Edited by Cronniss_S (08/20/07 03:18 PM) |

Another side note given new ideas --Well instead of say gurenteed rainbow how about extra 100% loot drop? thus increasing the chances without the actual gaurentee. And increases purple rates too which is always good. ~~... just saying its better to have an idea, ideas you can change. Changing a belief is much harder. people die for it, kill for it... "Dogma" |

They aren't gonna do anything like this if it takes more then fifteen minutes. Don't any of you read the chat logs? They are only going to implement stuff that you can do in short bursts, like every fifteen minutes of so. An hour is too much, also, finding rainbows here and there isn't fun either. It gets lame afterawhile if hyou can find the best stuff easily... -------------------- "To do bad to do good..." |

~~sigh~~ Why are these people on every single suggestion forum there is? Gets old repeating myself... There is no such thing as a "too big" idea. As a game development company you want ideas, A LIST OF THEM, that can be implemented later, else your wondering what to do next, and that just pisses players off. So stuff your "15 minutes". Not to mention having a game stall out and DIE because there's nothing NEW isn't a a good idea either. So next time contribute to the idea or just shut up. Thanks, Chris Randles --Bachelors in Game Simulation & Programming, Summer 2010 P.S. If you cant do in 15 minutes, can you get to a boss and kill and repeat in 15? Not unless your 35 and hunting Ice Cheiftan. Edited by DracMorair7 (08/22/07 03:08 AM) |

It appears that someone is quite defensive of his idea. The "15 minutes" thing comes from the developers as the focus of this game. This game is designed to be played by the casual gamer. Unless they plan to change this and make the game a time sink like other MMOs your idea doesn't fit with the focus of this game. When you post on an open forum you are going to get praise and criticism of your idea. Being that you are in the game development program that is a pill that you need to swallow now because it will only get worse when you are creating games. PS. I can get to any boss and kill him in under 15 minutes, this is especially easy with any dungeon that has a level 5 base camp access. -------------------- JoeB - Level 100 - Confused about my professional orientation - FINALLY Mearlin - Level 29 - Mage |

There is no difference as stated above the names "mythic" and "rainbow" can be used interchangeably. There are many other names they go by in the game depending who is on. Personally I usually refer to them as "skittles" -------------------- JoeB - Level 100 - Confused about my professional orientation - FINALLY Mearlin - Level 29 - Mage |

Understandable....I am just one who doesn't like to keep using the same word over & over in reference to a subject when I don't have to, especially when it is in the same sentence. It becomes and sounds tiresome to me. Hence why I changed between the two terms in my post above. -------------------- Cronniss Starrmyrr |

Quote: Let's see I don't even have to argue, just show you the facts. --In the interview if you recall 75% of players are members. --Typical dungeon runs are at formidable or insane for loot drops and repeats of bosses and/or HDoL. Typical battle last about 2-5 minutes at very least on one just ONE group" of monsters at that difficulty. And most groups at the very least last one level if there not hunting bosses if not 3. These statistics are based on the experienced gamer on what keeps xp up and gold & drop rates high, which is the primary focus of membership let alone free players. Umm... Am I the only one that has a pretty good idea given the above that "casual" doesn't even cover it? Leave casual for games built by Shockwave, Pogo or Gamefish. |

definently, i could see the people who always play solo and never really every get past 20 or see a mythic before they stop playing "casual" but fareming isnt rly a casual thing it shows that you want to get farther using tools ( boss's good loto/xp etc) casual people dont really have pedetermined plans... ok frump tues, widoer wed etc( maybe thats sjut a couple ppl i know lol) jsut backing dracmorair7 up this agme is definently not casual, maybe it was designed ot be but it isnt anymore |

Also, heres something not many here may figure. if you keep fidning rainbows all the time, then it gets super boring for you. It's like having uber experience gains everytime. You begin to wonder what's the point. The fun is finding the rares and deciding what your gonna do with em.... -------------------- "To do bad to do good..." |

Maybe your definition of casual is different than how we are using it. From the devs they consider this game for casual gamers IE only spending 15 minutes at a time and not 3-4 hours at a time. Although you can easily spend that amount of time (I have been in game for 8 hour stretches) it is not needed to accomplish a task. -------------------- JoeB - Level 100 - Confused about my professional orientation - FINALLY Mearlin - Level 29 - Mage |

i agree that u should keep the Mythics a very rare drop, but i like the idea of something that u really have to work for. I know the Dev wanted this game to be played only for about 15 mins at a time, but a lot of people are playin it alot longer than that. So y not add something for people that do play for a long time. I love the idea of havin to try and kill something really hard to get a guarenteed rainbow, but make sure it is really hard. Also maybe make it to where if u die tryin to kill the main boss that u cannot get back into the area till the next day. No going back and getting more Health Potions and fightin more. U die, u loose that chance that day. that would keep the rare drops still vary rare and also make goin thru the extra are worth it and something to brag about actually doin. Maybe even makin the drop something that would be made for the person that killded the Main boss. just an idea from a long time gammer....Atari RULEZ!!! lol -------------------- Old Skool Gamer....Atari Rulez!!!! |

still, I like the idea of something kept as short. It means nothing complicated will be introduced into gameplay. A monkey could could play this game, but unlike 'some' games we all know of, it doesn't mean their gonna eucceed. I myself am a perfect example of the casual gamer. Sometimes I'll get on for fifteen minutes (literally) and after that leave. -------------------- "To do bad to do good..." |

Quote: Your absolutely right. Find the items, and gain the XP to USE THEM! That's what the "uber experience gains" are for are they not? As for the solution I've already gave it... perhaps a extra 100 or 200% drop rate to these dungeons, if you have nothing constructive, please please, just shut it. |

Look its not going to happen. Like we have stated no matter your opinion about casual or not the devs have said multiple times if it takes more than 15 minutes it is not going to happen. End of dicussion. If you want a mythic for 15 minutes of work you are smoking crack. -------------------- Tithas Level 45 Tank. |

Alright now, to those who are comming up with suggestions that would increase the time it would take to do something. I have a constructive suggestion, let us think of 15 minute ideas. Ideas that if implimented would only take fifteen minutes. Remember folks, DR is it's own game. It doesn't need to be like anyone, because it doesn't need them. So, for the sake of forum unity, let us all get along together and put up some really good ideas. These are some great types of ideas - Interface ideas - Item additions - Event ideas? And so on...
