Same problem is for me. Everything is turned off. AA, V-sync, but game keeps on lagging. System requirements more then needed. Well... Laggs only dynamic objects, like when moving etc. Other things like mouse pointer isn't lagging.

Is it lag? Does your character stand or run in one place then suddenly shoot ahead? That's lag... Generally, the servers have been lag free, so it may be your network or traffic over your ISP.

Is it low frames per second?

Is it that you are having issues with the clumsy WASD controls and you've noticed the perceptible delay in movement?

I have two seperate systems:
On one - 2.5 Ghz P4 with a gig of ram and 256 XFX 5600 Nvidia
On the other - 1.7 Ghz AMD 2100 / 1 gig ram / 9800 256 Nvidia
-BOTH up to date on drivers and DX 9.0C
-BOTH operate on a very smooth High Speed connection. -Excellent ping rates and no packet loss.
-BOTH within the system specs.
-I have extremely poor performance in frame rate and sluggish responsiveness to controls. The framerate is poor from the outset of the load, that means even in the login screen I am experiencing single digit frame rates.
-Sliders are set to minimal, terrain is set to minimal and AA is OFF.
-I have NO trouble playing many other online games that are graphically superior to this one, averaging in the 40-60 FPS. My cards are not the best but they are modern enough to handle the graphics of this game without question.

So I am forced to wonder...
Is it coincidence that both of my systems are having trouble with this game?
Why are both of my systems capable of handling several other games that are more complex without trouble?

I surmise that in spite of the fact my systems meet up with minimum requirements, one of two things is going on. Either this is simply another game being produced outside of the curve of the vast majority of gamers systems - requiring dual core monsters to deal with the coding. Or this is a poorly programmed buggy beta released to the public so we can pay for the rights to say "Hey, I played that back when it so bad that blah blah blah..."

This isn't an issue of client-side problems. This is an issue of a game that has been released with a small performance tunnel, that requires systems that are either more flexible to handle the problems or are so boss they eat poor programming for lunch.

I WANT you to succeed. It's why I pay for the game! So slow down, take a deep breath and dig deeper than sliders and AA and latency. I am begging you not to make this Vanguard SOE 2.0 where we are paying to beta.

1) sluggish WASD controls are a separate issue being worked by the developers

2) The game performs very well for most people, even those on less-than-robust machines. It plays well on three of my machines, each of which has very differnt specs (low, mid, high).

3) In general, the graphics card doesn't matter as much as the cpu - the game is heavily cpu bound. To the best of my knowledge, dual-care isn't used or the game isn't optimized for it's use. Do yo have anything running in the background like iTunes or any other applications? Have you run a hijackthis log? Have you limited the processess and applications running in the back ground?

4) There were some issues with specific graphics cards. Perhaps you could try adding the following line to your user.cfg file under the [Display] heading:

Pipeline = VFPF

That has helped some user.

add Pipeline = VFPF under [Display] in user.cfg.
theres also a backup user.cfg incase it screws you up.

You might also try opening the ports on your router/firewall if you have one.

I have been playing (my wife too) for a month now. We play on pcs with very diffent specs (one ok machine and one not so ok). We had lag, but it was like 2 nights where the problem existed for 10 minutes then went away...Thats all we have experinced the last month. We have not been playing around with the graph setting, but its a mystery why you lag so much when so many dont (I have heard this before, its not JUST you, but its so few that have this probelem :S). I have seen from time to time that one player say LAAAGGG, and everybody say no.... This player is really having problems, and suddenly it goes away, and noone else experinced anything...Have you tried contacting some officials here at NCSoft?

Oh and try to get ppl to clean up their thrash they throw in town (quest items). That could make lag, and is against the rules too I have heard.

Soooo... I have been a long time player of GW and WoW. More recently I got into the apparently bandwidth intensive BF2142. All these games run find. Dungeon Runners on the other hand is unplayable. I have no illusions that it is my computer. The controls are sluggish no matter what method I use and my character often locks in place before rocketing forward. I had the same issue in GW on my dial up connection but I feel any connection that can Handle BF2142 or Quake Wars should be able to run this game fine.

All games are different. This game, in particular, is very heavily cpu-bound, not gpu=bound. Here are some basic troubleshooting questions:

* What are your system specs? Are you using Vista?
* Have you tried the pipeline fix?
* Have you modified any of your graphics options (turning AA down or off, for example)

The "rocketing ahead" issue does sound like lag, which is typically caused by packet loss somewhere between you and the server. This isn't a global problem or else we'd all be screaming about it. It's also something that is typically outside of NCSoft's power to resolve. Lag spikes can also be caused by local activity (your system), such as AV software updating in the middle of a gaming session.

Regarding the sluggish controls, that is specifically due to the fact that the game engine was originally developed for RTS play, not MMO. You'll get used to it, but it is being reworked for the next major build (a couple of weeks).

Check to see if you have enough memory, if you can find your hard drive light, is it constantly blinking, if so, you are running in virtual memory and you don't have enough real memory to run the game.. Another cause may be your Internet connection, are you connecting via telephone modem, DSL, or Cable modem. What is your uproute and downroute rates? Like I'm on comcast, I get 6Mbit down and 600Kbit (or something like that) which is overkill for this game. But if people in the game seem to be sliding around or constantly stalling. it could be that or the load on your network. Cable modems tend to share a community network, if you have neighbores running programs like Limewire and eMule and bit-torrent all the time, then its likely that, nothing can be done for that than to complain to your cable providers. I recently heard that Comcast is actually dropping subscribers for excessive use of lines, it was a story in the newspapers I read recently (they said their cap, for consideration, is about 1000 songs or 4 movies per day, my question is, how would they know this without packet sniffing? which is an invasion of privacy, anyhow)..

Other things that can cause constant lag.. Slow computer? Lots of background processes. Go to google do a search for "procexp" and "tcpview" (Microsoft has since purchased rights), download and run them.. With procexp, you can see all your processes and verify if the identity of each process, like if it is a part of the operating system, if it is related to iTunes, etc). With tcpview, you can see if programs you are running are opening up ports to the Internet that shouldn't be.. I have a rootkit on my machine or a worm, I have to kill a couple of processes I can only recognize with tcpview, everytime I start windows.. Windows is not a good OS, it has too many security holes, and it wouldn't suprise me if 90% of you guys are already sharing your computer with a malicious piece of software.. With rootkits, you can never tell..

Did anyone hear about the Sony Rootkit? The 50 CD's that install rootkits on PC's? The creator of TCPView and Procexp was the one who discovered the rootkit..

Anyhow..

I'm sorry, but this shows how little you know about computers.

1) It doesn't matter if you have a brand new computer if the computer isn't that good and your computer isn't that good (especially for games) for anything except schoolwork or surfing.

2) Radeon Xpress 1100 IS NOT A VIDEO CARD - it's an integrated chipset that shares memory with your system. Regardless of the marketing hype on your brand new PC's packaging, integrated chipsets generally suck for gaming. If you're going to game, you need a dedicated graphics card with it's own dedicated memory.

3) The hard drive size doesn't really matter, unless you run out of space. The drive speed might matter, however. I'd be willing to bet your drive spins at 5400 RPM. 7200 RPM would be better.

4) The dual core processor doesn't matter since this game (and many other games, too) doesn't take advantage of the dual cores. Also, you didn't actually state the speed of your processor. If it's a 1.6 GHz processor, for example, then your processor is fairly weak. Since this game is very heavily CPU-bound, that might cause you some grief.

5) How much memory do you have and how fast is it?

If you paid more than $600 USD for your laptop, I'd be surprised. Here's something comparable for $569:

Linky...

I'm sorry to say, but with computers, you get what you pay for and you'd paid for something that's not very good. If you pay <$600 for a laptop then you can't reasonably expect to have good game performance for the majority of online games (unless you're playing Flash/Shockwave or Java-based games). This is especially true since most laptops aren't really designed for gaming.

All of that being said, you should be able to play DR, but you will have to experiment with the graphics and sound settings (trying turning sound off, for example) to find the most optimal settings for your system. Try checking out the following link to see if any of these AMD tools will help you (especially the dual core optimizer):

Linky...

Also, you may need to download ATI Mobility Drivers for your system. That might be a problem, however. According to game.amd.com, the latest mobility drivers don't support the chipsets (and might not support your manufacturer). You may need to use third-party drivers from somebody like omegadrivers.net. If you do install new drivers, I'd very highly recommend that you first clean your system with Driver Cleaner Pro .

Thank you!
Finally, this wonderfull game finally works on my pc now.
I already downloaded it in March of this year, but my fps was sucking badly.
I was so frustrated I couldn't play the game on a decent rate.

And now I'm slapping myself in my face for not searching this forums before.
The Pipeline thingy has fixed my problems!

I'm so thankfull,I'm off now to play this wonderfull game now that I can,and to get back my lost Dungeon Runners time.

I tried the pipeline fix and my game is still incredibly choppy to the point where I want to cancel my subscription...especially in places with weather like Algor's Terror Dome, the more enemies/people on screen the worse it is...I can barely move in boss fights..

My computer isn't that great...P4 1.8 GHz, 768 ram...Nvidia GeForce MX 4000....but I wouldn't think a machine that runs WoW smooth as day would be running this game damn close to unplayable...any suggestions?

...thats because they ::gasp:: have a support center that people are supposed to contact first - as I'm sure has been said and linked a couple of times up there. The devs and the support center personnel don't parole the forums looking to fix everyones problems - they expect people to contact THEM (as is generally expected in every game, company, business, etc)

Us forum'ers know you have a problem, yes, but the people that can really tell you how to fix your problems live elsewhere...seek them...

Note: this post isnt directed at anyone, but please contact support before you resort to asking those of us here on the forums that may/may not have a useful answer for you besides what we ourselves have encountered.

Smooth as day with lots of settings turned down. I have WoW loaded on two different computers, both with significantly better specs than yours, one of which is still "low end" and it does very well on both. Both have very different settings and resolutions, however.

Regardless, you can't compare how well a machine runs one game vs. the other. Some games work better with certain cards, drivers, are OpenGL vs. DirectX dependent, etc... There are a ton of factors.

Like Teclis said - this isn't official support. It's a user forum where the devs "might" provide some assistnace. If you have a problem, try opening a support request.

That being said, try adjusting your resolution, turning off AntiAliasing, turning down foliage, etc...
