Sam randomly spawns in lv4 and lv7 of Dungeon (exept in Algeron and Hdol where he doesn't spawn).
You'll always get unique (purple) items but you have a small chance (1/300) to get a rainbow item.

1/10 chance to spawn Sam in lv4
1/20 chance to spawn Sam in lv7

Boots/Helm/Gloves/Shoulders/1H Weapon cost 9 King Coins
Jewelry costs 12 king Coins.
Body/2H Weapon cost 18 King Coins

nice! i heard a lot about this "sam" character but i've never seen him. whenever someone finds him, they should alert everyone so everyone can warp to him

Might be nice to know how to get Sam to sell to other people. Currently he is very picky on who he sells to.

I've found the best way to find Sam is to spend all your kings coins so that you don't have enough to buy anything from him. If you do this, you are almost guaranteed to find him on your next run.

In the game you will usually hear people saying they have found Sam, and what level he is on. I should say most of the Veterans do.

I haven't seen him.

I see him all the time, i quit asking if ppl needed/wanted a lift to him b/c half the time he wont sell to them. But hes not hard to find if you are scaling lvls 4 or 7 wall to wall.

You need to know the level requirements so he will trade to them. I think they are posted farther up this thread. I know shadows embrace 4&7 is level 50 minimum.

Does Sam still not sell level 95-100 weapons?

I found Sam with boots on Frump's 4 just now. Lvl 25-45.

Noob tip: From one noob to another: If Sam appears for you but wont sell you anything, you have missed an enemy or two. You'll have to find them and kill them before you can trade with him. This has nothing to do with going to someone elses Sam... If he appears for YOU, that's what's wrong if he's not trading.

Would have to disagree with you on this one. Sam is level specific. He wont trade with you because you are not in his level range. Have clicked on him by accident with mobs all around and he will trade. If it is your dungeon it could be that you are to low or to high for the dungeon.

I'm sorry you disagree but after asking everyone in world 30 why he wouldn't trade with me and getting no response, I then tracked down the last two enemies, killed them, returned to Sam and got my boots.

Don't know what to tell ya, maybe you are mistaken or the game is glitching. He would talk to me (open a window), there was just no option to get the boots until all the enemies were dead. The incident is very fresh in my mind because I was pretty pissed he wouldn't trade with me. My lvls were correct and I had cleared Frump's 4 several times trying to get him.

The enemies were located in a small corner that I had not explored yet. Maybe that had something to do with it. Does the whole map have to be revealed?

I would think it is glitchy. I have used Sam at least a dozen times. I know I haven't cleared the level each time before using him. I have always used him as soon as I find him.

I just used Sam to buy some nice shoulder pads. He was in the first room I encountered... hadn't killed a single thing on the level except for the mobs right before him.

I appreciate your desire to know for certain. I just want to point out that if the offered chance of 1 in 20 is correct then in order to have a 95% chance of spawning him atleast once you need to do it 93 times... And oh yeah he didnt show on the map so dont miss a room. (binom with 93 attempts give you zero spawns of him 5% of the time with a 1/20 chance). Mathematics graduate I couldnt help myself.

I dunno if the 1/20 thing is true. But you should wait till after 93 attempts before you wonder if somethings foul. And even then 5% of you would be expected to fail.

I met him on my first run of algor lvl2 and he gave me boots lvl 20 :)

Sam is not visible on the level map. He appears with the usual exclamation mark, but he has no indicator on the map as NPCs normally do.

Mutantous Malaise level 7= gloves/helmets if I remember correctly. I'll check and edit when I find him.

*edit* after 4 or 5 tries haven't found him yet. will continue later.

I don't even bother using Sam at my current level because the two purple armors I got from him were both worse than what I had at the time...

Frostbite is now Frumps, but Sam on lvl 4 of Frumps does indeed sell boots.

The locations of Sam has never changed. It has always been on Level 4 and 7 of each dungeon accept Dew valley, Algeron and HDoL. What has changed is the dungeon names and possibly what Sam sells. It would be nice to have this updated, when I get to 100 if it hasn't been done i will update it but busy grinding at this time. I know with the new build coming Sam is to appear more often (25%) but will still be at the same locations.

As I have only seen him for Jewlery and Armor, does he offer random pieces in other items. Armor was nice as it offered a set for each of the main "classes". For jewlery I spent 62KC to only get 1 item that was better than my current gear, and it was the 1st ring of 4 that I recieved, the amulets dropped 1 was helpful to another mage that was also there, but only about 1/3 as powerful as the one I had currently equipt that was 5lvls lower than it.

I don't mind spending copious amounts of KC on Sam, I just wish that there was a better chance of getting something you would like, as the rings were all over the board, 3 had INT boost one was +agi/str and 2 of the 3 were below +10 stat boosts and I was a lvl 40 when I was buying from him.

When dealing with the armor Sam, I did buy all 3 suits, just to see what was offered, and a 4th suit to see if the stats changed at all. What it did was give me a better idea as to what I would be gaining in a piece of equipment, instead of what felt like a completely random lottery shot with the jewlery Sam.

Is there any logic to what you get from Sam at all? It would be nice if it looked at your states/skill and gave you armor that at least would be useful.

When going to Sam for armor types you can select the "class" closest to you. I have never used him for amulets or rings but would assume the same as token vender in Townston which is random. Also Sam will sell the same type of armor at a given level. I know level 7 of Shadows Embrace is body armor.

Usually I find him quickly but the other day it took me like 10 runs to find him. He was seriously hiding from me.

3 more runs and found him , however , I used 90 KC's for 5 mage body armours . I had just levelled to 65 , all the armours were lvl 64 and never really beat the yellow lvl 60 armour I was wearing . I could'nt justify to myself wasting those coins so used the best of the armours instead of the yellow :P . All in all a big waste of time spent looking for him , but nevermind , all part of he fun I guess :)I think I may try for shoulders next .
